We have the traditional Italian feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve.

Feast of the Seven Fishes is an Italian-American tradition that takes place on Christmas Eve. In Italy, it's a fasting day called La Vigilia, a day for abstinence from meat... until Christmas Day, and then there is a big mid-day meal of pasta with meats.
In America, Italians brought this tradition to Little Italy in New York, sometime in the late 1800's. Why seven fishes? It may be from the Catholic Seven Sacraments or named from the Seven Hills of Rome. No one is quite sure.
There are some very traditional fishes that are served here in the U. S... eels, baccala (salt cod), calamari (squid), shrimp, mussels & clams and more.
From the 1800's, fast forward to 2022. Most families who celebrate this feast, will be doing so with seven of their family's favorite seafood recipes.

Currently, I have nowhere to go for Christmas. I would love to take a trip and spend it with a friend or a new interest. The world we now live in does not want you to have joy, but lowness of heart. I work hard to do things that bring joy; even helping others when I can.

As always we will be entertaining the entire family (14 adults and 7 children) from Christmas Eve through until the day after Boxing Day... Only because we have the biggest house (6 bedrooms all with en suites) so accommodating the "gang" isn't too much of a problem.

It's also nice that we have this golden rule in that all the women (7) do all the preparation and cooking, and then we leave it up to the men (7) to do all the washing and clearing up!

I'd like to make a new plan and take my family on a vacation instead of all the food and gifts. Unfortunately, I don't make the plans. I follow the plan. Cook, shop, and try to keep everyone happy while finding time to shower and sleep. I love my family, but I'm sick of this ride.

I'm probably going to stay home and drink with my bro on Christmas Eve or Christmas night. My co-worker has to work both nights. I'm going to show up and work one of those nights for him so he can go home to be with his wife and kids. He doesn't know it yet, though.
