An ALTERNATIVE Christmas SONG is a song that is sung to the tune of a standard Christmas song but with different lyrics, often a parody.

When I was in high school, some friends and I created an alternative song, and I still remember it.

Rudolph the Red-Nose Cowboy
(sung to "Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer")

Rudolph the Red-Nose Cowboy
had a very shiny gun
and if you ever saw it
you would turn around and run.

All of the other cowboys
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any poker games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
the Sheriff came to say
"Rudolph with your gun so bright.
Won't you shoot my wife tonight!"

Then how the cowboys loved him
as they shouted out with glee
"Rudolph the Red-Nose Cowboy
You'll end up in the penitentiary."
