Since in my 50s now, the holidays just seem like another day. Who else thinks this?

Well, it's according to what kind of holidays you're used to.

I've always had holidays with my family. Now since our parents are dead, it's cousins, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and invited guests. Always good food, always good conversations and if the weather's good, a beautiful day!

I've always had good holidays. Sometimes there are a few political or familial arguments, but mostly everyone is well behaved and we have a lovely time watching some football and chatting.

If that hasn't been a part of your family history, or you've had bad holidays, maybe being alone is fine for you. Wouldn't be for me because of my family history.

It's not just another day or so. It's a year-end of special occasions and catching up that I heartily enjoy...

The holidays mean as much as the effort you put into them. If you don't try to make them important, no surprize. . . they won't be important.

I am 69 years old, will be 70 next month. I took my wife Christmas shopping, to holiday parties, family gatherings, dinners with friends, a brief sailing excursion, and reminded her how fortunate I am to have her as my wife. The holidays were very special for us.
