Go with the metal she already wears don't buy her yellow gold if she only wears white gold or silver. Best to go dainty and simple if you're not sure what she likes, though she is your wife so you should know.

One side of me prefers having someone pick something out for me, particularly, if they take the time to try to understand what I like. Wearing it reminds me of the person who gave it.
