Personally my parents and I consider this an insult. It would be a big difference giving away a valuable heirloom or sacrificing an item you need but give it away to someone you care/love. But giving away something you consider worthless and was about to throw in the trash but trying to pass that as a gift? Nope.
When I was a teen, a family relative once gave me a couple old fabrics (so I can make a dress) as my ''Christmas gift''. I felt very offended and didn't accept it. I threw it in the garbage afterwards. That relative had a good financial status and could've gotten me something new and cheaper or a chocolate box. I don't even like knitting clothes, never did.
How do you feel when it comes to giving away old stuff you don't want nor like anymore? I find it offensive but what about you?

I give away my old stuff (but brand new) to people but won’t give my uses stuff to people. Because I don’t wear any used stuff and consider it as insult.
I love shopping, and mostly buy 5-10 clothes in a week, and sometimes i forget to wear that until I don’t like it anymore. So mostly I donate to people who need it.
Donating to people that have nothing at all is one thing but giving old stuff to a family relative, esp one that can tell right away it's old and not needed... and on Christmas? I felt insulted that day.
Yeah I don’t even donate used stuff to people how come give it used stuff to family as Christmas gift 🥲🥲
That’s insult.
But if that used car still makes sense.
It’s really tacky.
Yup. I'd rather get nothing than get old stuff you were going to throw away.
Yep, I totally agree.
