How would you rate your gift wrapping skills?

Superb. As my wife's mail orders (for most of the grandkids' gift requests this year) came to the house, I'd wrap them and store them on the dining room table. I'll let her add the ribbons.

About 40 years ago, a friend of my parents taught me how to wrap- really wrap- presents of all shapes. She was really into handicraft stuff. About 20 years ago at our church at that time, we had a "Christmas Bargain Store" for the local families. We got hundreds of slightly used and brand-new presents. People could come in- pick (two per kid, I think- a big and a little gift) gifts- and me team would wrap them on the spot.

We had three stations. Station one- sized up the gift, how it would be wrapped/bagged, and cut paper as needed. Station two. Actually "wrapped" the gift, folding and tucking and taping. Station three. Bows, ribbons and cards. I got to do station 1 and 2, plus oversaw the whole operation.

One thing that I DO miss is decent calendared ribbon that could be drawn over a dull edge and crinkled into a pom-pom. "Crinkle ribbon" IS available, but it isn't anywhere near as good as the stuff from 3-4 decades ago. sigh
