Have you ever cut down your own Christmas Tree?

On our first Christmas together we were very poor and I went into the woods and cut down a pine tree. We had a box of decorations that my mother gave us. She got them from the department store where she worked. She said they were going to be thrown away. Somehow after we decorated it , it really was a nice looking tree.

I just remembered this. Before we got married my wife lived in a coastal tourist destination. She worked in the local hospital and rented a house near the ocean. There were many of estates owned by rich people who just lived there in the summer. There was a house that had a perfect Christmas tree in a very prominent place on the property. I went up there with my pickup truck and one night we went over and cut the tree down and set it up in her living room. It really was the perfect tree and

the next summer it was funny to drive by the house and see a big empty space where that tree used to be

Did it one year in the Virginia mountains somewhere. They romanticize it like it's a 'holiday tradition' bullshit (I wasn't really listening). Cool! Let's go hack a tree down! First of all, there is no 'we' doing this. Fellas expect to do 100% of the labor, plus listen to100% of the griping about who knows what. But I sucked it up and wasn't a Scrooge.

Then I had to drag that fucker down the mountain...'but Spartan, you are going DOWN the mountain, that's easy' the hell you say? Dragging any object through snow is serious work. And do you think the 'selection committee' (girlfriend at the time) picked a reasonably sized tree? Think again. I swear that tree must have been 15 feet tall. It felt like dragging a dead elk down the mountain. Finally I get the damn thing to the car and guess what? It won't fit on or on the car because she had to pick the Paul Bunyan special. So guess who had to hack a few feet off the top? (Hint not Spartan's girlfriend) we get it to her parents and it's STILL too big to get into the house. Ugh...😠 At this point I was ready to just torch the thing.

When my kids were growing up, we did cut out own tree a few times, at a local Christmas tree farm.

It was fun with the kids, checking out all the trees, selecting the one for us.

Once, a very long time ago. I cried T-T. So I was very young somewhere between 6-8. My parents always wanted to make our Christmas's special. So they decided to have us kids pick are own Christmas tree. They took us to this.. Christmas tree farm, what ever they are called. . It was a nice day when we went. And I was so excited. My dad told me and my siblings that we needed to pick our own tree and it had to be a good one that would make Santa proud! It felt so magical, a forest of tiny trees! We eventually found one we kids agreed on. I grabbed my dads arm and yanked him to the tree. I was sure that this would be the best Christmas tree Santa had ever seen.

Then he started cutting down the tree and i was like "No dad you are going to kill it! and like now I'm wondering how did little me think we were gong to get it home, but I was balling my eyes off. We never got a real Christmas tree after that 😅

Yes, growing up we always did the "family outing" to get the tree (Out in the woods, not a tree farm) and I always whined and complained about the subarctic freezing temperatures that were sure to cause my demise but they all ignored me and somehow I survived.

We (me and my sweetie) do a little fiber optic tree inside since our place is so small but we do Christmas eve and dinner at my parents who still have a live tree and I do decorate an outside one for the birds and squirrels.

Not me personally, but my family always had real trees for Christmas. I don’t really celebrate Christmas anymore. I used to have a tiny little desktop Christmas tree that i put out for December. I also had a Christmasy pencil topper that i put on the tippy top. A young person once asked me why my tree was so small and i told her “That’s all the Christmas spirit i can muster”. She was a doll and seemed to go out of her way to try and help me enjoy the holiday more.

My mom and dad have a cabin in Northern Wisconsin. Every November around Thanksgiving, we'd go up there and cut a tree down. I'm not sure, but I don't think it was actually our land. I think it was state land. I haven't cut one down, my wife demands we have a artificial tree.

Yep, my 2nd year with my fiancee in Minnesota we decided to go and pick out one near our small mining town. What a total Christmas experience that was. Saw a bunch of deer that day. I got out and tried to get close to them. Had on high snow boots and took it home to his parents and set it up in their living room. I crocheted some icicle ornament for the tree. It was very beautiful with long icicles on the roof too.

Yes I did. Ti was the tree that we had in our yard. The landlord wanted it gone so I said I'd get rid of it if he gave us a discount on our rent. He agreed and gave us 100 dollars of the rent. The decorations came from my in-laws and my parents. The 100 dollars we saved bought the Christmas presents

Christmas trees they grow in the mountains like North Carolina not in Miami Florida so no I have not cut down a Christmas tree but we have bought real nice ones From the Christmas tree stands real live Christmas trees
