Sunday 21 December 2025 is the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. It's considered the shortest day of the year, with the fewest hours of sunlight of any day in the year.

For those in the Southern Hemisphere, enjoy the longest day of the year, the day with the most sunlight.

How will you be celebrating this special day?

It's not just stonehenge, pretty much any ancient stone circle or standing stone will attract colourful characters looking to get high.

My favourite story is of an ancient stone circle that excited archaeologists, druids and hippies in equal measure.. until the farmer confessed he made it himself for his cows to play with.

Unfortunately I'll be cleaning the house for Christmas tomorrow

I'll "celebrate" by doing exactly everything I was going to do tomorrow anyway if it wasn't the solstice. I'm highly indifferent to the whole concept. And there's less sunlight in mid January anyway when the sun is coming up over the highest peak of the mountains so despite it officially being the least sunlight, it unofficially isn't around here.

The same way I celebrate New Years... eating food I like, drinking drinks I like, listening to music I like, watching tv shows & movies I like, playing video games I like, reading books & comics & magazines I like.

What else can I actually do? Perform some Druidic ritual in Stonehenge? :D

Oh, we do all kinds of little pagan rituals throughout the day, just honoring Gaia and the cycles of life in general. None of which include sacrificing any living creature or person despite popular belief. 😊

It'll be the longest day for me.

I chose every few solstices to run a harvest festival in the park and offer a sacrifice to fertility by spilling beer onto the soil. My friends like the harvest festivals.
