Yes it has become less important be cause of the advancement in technology and us really just not talking about what the meaning and how marraige should be look and feel instead of actually showing our children this is also what happens if... or this is why... And marraige should be taken seriously in every way. It's a commitment between a husband and wife a learning experience thats for sure.
Pretty much nothing. Marriage isn't about love and building a family anymore. Marriage is now about money. How much does he have to support the relationship? How much does she have? Will our jobs make us financially stable? Will we have money for kids? Money for our house? Cars?
@morimeme1 Marriage didn't started as an act of love in the beginning of human societies, it was related to politics, economics, family alliances, agreements and business, etc. Sorry but it is so sad, and that's why the princess, the enchanted princes, and fairy tales related to "... and they lived happily ever after" were created, in order to sweeten the sour pill of arranged marriage to the daugthers specially.
Later on, the idea of marriage became more romantic as well as the acceptance of the "forbidden love". However, the real core of the marriage was to make the relationship and the family formed legal, oficial and accepted in a society so money, properties, inheritances, custody, etc, weren't confiscated.
Curently both men and women can work, become independent on their own, get their own money, properties, heritances (if they are in the will), decide how to life, with who and how. Even it seems that being married doesn't matter anymore in order to be financially stable, both people (no matter the relationship, gender or sexual preferences) just need to agree how to live, and if they want to deal with money, properties, etc, it is just enough with a written paper like a will or a contract business type but it doesn't look like a marriage one.
That's why, kdude, I am not sure that even marriage can mean money anymore as well, because the same issues can be solved with other legal contracts even if both are just friends with benefits, or living in cohabitation. Unless marriage can make the legal process faster and still cheaper.
Marriage's meaning hasn't changed. What has changed is the perspective of the population. People don't believe marriage is important anymore. (Not saying everyone thinks like this, of course. I think marriage is important.) Recent generations have decided that they would rather live without that commitment and dedication that marriage requires. Some people just don't think marriage is necessary. It's all about perspective, how you see marriage.
In our society, marrage has become a one sided deal that greatly favors women. Not that marriage cannot be sucessful but in case of divorce, especially if children are involved women have all the advantages.
it's an industry that makes lawyers and women rich. And the government gets some money as well. All paid by the stupid man who signed the papers.

The overwhelming perception among men today is that marriage is a great deal for women and children and a terrible deal for men. I 100% believe that is true and I do not see the factors that make it so changing any time soon. For that reason I think the concept of marriage is destined for extinction. We already see that happening and the trend is just going to continue.
@SimpleRhubarb nope you women are just attention whores who use men. And I blame men for falling for it. And one day men will realize it and guys are starting to and that is why no man will marry you
I said you're a dumb ass and you've just proves it, I'm mgtow so not in any shape cucked but have at it you ovary-emotional fucktard whatever helps you sleep at night
There is really no advantage to getting married nowadays except for the woman if she came in with nothing and the man has all the money then it’s an advantage for her but not an advantage for the guy except that he has a legal contract to be with her and hopefully she doesn’t cheat
It means the same as it always has. A holy union between man and woman in the sanctity of marriage instituted by God. It's people who try to change marriage, not marriage itself that changes.
You wouldn't get married if you didn't love the person. However, these days people are just it a means of manoplising their life through their spouse (both men and women). More and more people are becoming desensitised I think.
i'd argue it has become more important than ever in a society where obligation and personal responsibility seem to vanish more and more to at least have some piece of formal structure to at least attempt to enforce those virtues.
Unless you believe in God and want children it means nothing. Also if you aren't a girl who would make a good wife and mother then you aren't in consideration anyways and most girls these days aren't wife or mother material.
What about most men these days? Do you think men are maturing as they should? For men, womanizing is celebrated, I think that's as big a problem as the women.
@meesegoMoo i agree but it starts with the woman. Men work to achieve what they want. They see a woman and then they go to accomplish whatever it takes to get her. If they never see a woman worth a damn why would they ever get serious?
Women are unable to accomplish something to get a man ie a slut cannot become a virgin, an older woman cannot become a young woman, a single mom cannot become unattached... the main things that make women unmarriagable cannot be overcome. A man however at any time can become more mature and earn more money and learn better behaviors and skills. So if all women are slut single mom unmarriagable, all the men in the world can man up and be marriageable men and it would do no good. Yet the reverse works. If all the women are awesome, men will see a reason to put down the video games and achieve things to earn such women.
I've worked hard to be a great man and now here i am by myself. I've resorted to demanding two girlfriends at a time because i dont believe one woman exists on my level. I could have put in way less effort and responsibility and ended up with any old ho. Im not going to work my ass off and then be satisfied by any old ho.

To me it means I trust my partner with my life , heart and health. When things going bad they stick by each other.

Any person that gets married is a fool there is no reason to get married
Tax👏🏼benefits👏🏼
@SimpleRhubarb so get married for money typical women answer it’s all about the money for women and just another reason why men shouldn’t get married
Sir, it was a joke. Don’t take it so hard. You’ll never find anyone to so much as date with an attitude like that towards women.
Also, both parties benefit greatly. Welcome to 2020... Women have jobs, too!
@SimpleRhubarb I don’t want to date didn’t my answer show that. And we all know you weren’t joking you women love you some male resources
Sure, not dating is a choice😉Male resources? I think you mean female resources. We’re better than you.
@SimpleRhubarb nope you women are just attention whores who use men. And I blame men for falling for it. And one day men will realize it and guys are starting to and that is why no man will marry you
Omg you’re such an incel 😂
I said you're a dumb ass and you've just proves it, I'm mgtow so not in any shape cucked but have at it you ovary-emotional fucktard whatever helps you sleep at night

I feel like no one cares about it nowadays. Especially in my generation. Everyone’s fucking each other. Gen z
It really does seem that way

I'm married and to us it has nothing to do with God.
@slatyb You can believe that, that doesn't make it true.
It's true for us and the State of Washington. God wasn't there.

Marriage hasn't lost value, it's more the people getting married have.
Marriage has changed as it's now mostly based on love, and companionship instead of forming strategic alliances between families.
i'd argue it has become more important than ever in a society where obligation and personal responsibility seem to vanish more and more to at least have some piece of formal structure to at least attempt to enforce those virtues.
Whatever the couple makes it mean.
To me it's the promise of complete dedication to my partner. It's sharing my life and asking to share theirs.
Unless you believe in God and want children it means nothing. Also if you aren't a girl who would make a good wife and mother then you aren't in consideration anyways and most girls these days aren't wife or mother material.

I dont give a single f*** about the "society". I marry because I want to. It is the ultimate commitment I can imagine to give to my partner.
