I don't know of any real benifits other than it lets people know your married. Thats if the know both you and your husbands name so. I guess so the whole family has the same name including the children. I personality wouldn't care much if when I get married the woman chooses not to change her name but what about the children whose last name would they be given?

For me, it was about being one family. I mean it sounds silly, but for me it was better to just become “Mrs. (last name)” than to have to explain that I am actually married. Each woman has to decide on her own though.
It's just less confusing on paper, plus your kids will have the same last name as both parents.
