Wow 10 years with no marriage? That's like TORTURE for A LOT of women! You know how long women have DREAMED of the white picket fence, gorgeous healthy husband with 2.5 kids and a dog and cat to boot? ? !
The majority of women would be angry and disappointed. Oh yeah. And then some would probably be in huge denial.
If you really love your partner, why not make their wedding dreams come true? ? ! Also, when it comes to taxes, a married couple can file jointly, but nowadays, even gays/LGBTQIA and those who cohabit, can already do the same. Very interesting indeed.
Some need to marry for a green card though. Some "To prove their true love in front of the church and family". There are VARIOUS and valid reasons for getting married, especially if religious or traditional!
If someone is very pro marriage and someone isn't, the person who keeps hoping and staying for that long feels unfulfilled and sad over it, I bet.
Thanks for MHO.
It depends on how old we are. I have a friend who have been with her man for 12 years (but they started dating in middle school). So even though they’ve been together for 12 years, they’re still only 25 now - pretty young-ish for marriage which is why they’re still not looking to take it to the next level just yet.
I think that’s pretty reasonable, the length of time you’ve been dating someone shouldn’t really be grounds for marriage.
Well what’s a good age for marriage to you then
Around 30-32 for me personally. I wouldn’t want to be married in my 20s, I’d prefer to spend my 20s building myself
It is fine with me. Marriage doesn't prevent a relationship from ending and doesn't prevent cheating either. All marriage does is let the woman and courts steal from the man if they get divorced.
It also lets the surviving partner in the case of a death get their partner's retirement IF it was higher than what they already had. So that means it almost always lets the surviving woman get more money if the man dies, but again, does nothing positive for the man.
Marriage is bad for men. I see no benefits for it. You can have a life long exclusive relationship and raise a family without legal marriage.
I had an 18 year relationship without marriage. Neither of us saw a reason to get married. I've known couples who were together 40+ years without being married. I've known couples who were never married who had grown children and grandchildren.
Now contrast this to the average length of marriage in the US of 7 years. I have to stress that that is an average, not median. It's an average including outliers. But the point is still valid.
10 years in "an amazing relationship" and apparently still going strong is doing pretty good.

I'm not interested in someone who isn't capable of committing to a marriage by year 3-5. If there's no ring by year 3 (from either of us, I'm happy to buy a ring and propose, too), then I'm breaking up.
I don't do people afraid of commitment.
Why fix what’s not broken?
A ring at least to say I am his and a wife calling thing that does not have to be on paper. Fine with me.
For me yes, at some point I would want to get married and being 100% committed to each other.
I I wasn't planning on being married in 10 o would bother dating, and if I did want to get married I wouldn't be with someone who wasn't.
Sounds ideal to me. Marriage is not in my life plans. All it is is a title.
If your been living with a member of the opposite sex that long exclusively you are effectively married.
The license of the state is not by itself a prerequisite
modern marriage in western culture is not worth it for most men regardless of time spent with a partner.
I'm pretty up front about my desire to get married so 10 years of waiting would not work for me.
10 years is already marriage
You just haven’t thrown a party and signed any documents
Sure, why not
well , i actually prefer that
I wouldn’t be unhappy
I dont really see myself in that situation
Its just marriage, I would not really care
