I feel that there is no benefit for a man to get married, do you agree?

I always get into this debate at work but I feel like for a man there is no benefit to get married. Only women benefit from it. I wanna know what your thoughts are

Don't know where you live but married couples get a tax break here. Pay less tax if married than just living together.

If one works full time and the other earns less than a 1,000 a month, you get a tax break and even a tax refund as well.

That's a benefit.

Marriage is beneficial for both partners:


- marriage forces both to work things out and support each other. So it helps a guy work through traumas and issues when they pop up


- raising kids in a marriage is viewed as ideal by society. Yes a guy can have kids outside of a marriage but inside he sets the example for his kids


- better sex. Based on stats married men enjoy more frequent sex and their partners are feeling safe to share with them


- in-laws. Sure lots of jokes are made about in-laws but in a marriage you have now doubled your family structure for support

- it doesn’t force you to work anything out. That idea that when you’re married, ur married for life no matter what issues arise is a old school thought. That’s why the divorce rate is higher than it’s ever been.

-yes it’s better to raise kids within the structure of a marriage, however considering the statistics regarding the divorce rate it is more likely that those kids will end up being raised in a single parent household regardless.

-and sure better sex initially but then things get repetitive

I got a house, property and a sizeable dowry by getting married, and I get to keep everything in case of divorce. So for me it was pretty beneficial.

Okay but think of it this way. If your wife is making significantly less than you. That means you’re spending a lot of money on her and your household. So even if you’re getting a tax break, you’d still be saving a lot more money if you wernt married.

Not true. Men do benefit from marriage. But they don't benefit as much as they used to, and marriage is far more risky and costly to men than it used to be. And most of the benefits can be had now outside of marriage.

So I think it's more accurate to say that the risks and costs for men outweigh the benefits.

But there are some benefits, just not enough to justify it.
