Why does American society look down on single men who either refuse to get married or go for prenuptial agreements if they decide to ever get married?

Single men who refuse to get married aren't bothering anyone, and with how divorce rates are at such an all-time high today, some of the men who do decide to get married and wants a prenup gets scolded by society for not having any trust in his partner to share his own wealth that he worked his ass off for, for her.

It''s pretty stupid how American society feels that women, especially those with lesser income, should automatically be entitled to half of men's income and properties after divorce just because she was married to the man and has less income.

The way I see it, it shouldn’t be a big deal if the wife is working. But if it’s his preference to have a stay at home wife, and especially if she sacrifices her job she enjoys, he should absolutely be subject to paying alimony if they separate. If he doesn’t want that, then he’s going to have to have a career wife. Either way, a woman needs to have an income from somewhere.

For the same reason every other society does: they're not "playing their part" in terms of doing what was expected. Funnily enough, this is not far from the reasons early members of the Feminist movement faced the backlash they did (well, SOME of the reasons; men refusing to play along involves less terrorism). You'd think that might get them a little empathy, but no.

It may be at its most pronounced here in the US, but I assure you, it's not unique to us.
