Would you say that social skills are not important if your intelligent and a good person?

My grandma had no sense of wit at all and no humour or sensibility but she worked as a math professor and her husband only argued with her once during her 30 year marriage. My cousins have tons of money and power but they fight constantly with their husbands and they are charming and witty and feminine and have good taste in clothes.

Social skills are exceedingly important. Your grandmother may not have had with or humor, but if she was a professor and a wife, I am 100% certain she had social skills. Social skills are so important because they govern our interactions with others. Those interactions impact so many other areas of our lives.

Social skills are pretty important, it sounds like your grandma was a master at social skills tbh. To run through life smoothly while respecting all others enough to never argue means to have very high emotional intelligence. She may not have been a socialite but she was obviously very in tune with emotions

Having very few social skills is extremely hard. I know because I didn't have any, but I am intelligent.
