- Do u think it is wrong for a women to propose in a heterosexual relationship?
She is definitely the one wearing the shoes in the marriage if he says I do lol ( teasing) I know it’s common tradition for a man to propose to a woman but I don’t see anything wrong with a girl proposing , I think it’s kind of sexy thinking about it , considering I love when a girl asks me out , Because it’s usually the other way around , I feel if a girl asks a guy out they have a better chance of making it in the relationship, only reason I say that is because Girl’s are very picky on what they want out of a man. A man can be picky as well but his list isn’t as big as a girls list lol , He just wants a girl that is beautiful sweet and caring and loves to have sex and stays faithful to him , A girl wants all of that , plus a lot more lol , So if she is asking him out it’s pretty much set in stone that she is really into him , from my experiences with girls that asked me out , I have to say they were the better relationships considering most girls love a man that they adore and look up to , so if she is getting on her knees for me and I am highly attracted toward her then I’d be stupid to say No

I don't see an issue with it. Also I don't see an with a couple never getting married as well. In general a person and couple should o whats right for them and not care about what others think.

I think it’s desperate if anything. If a guy hasn’t proposed yet , it’s because he isn’t ready to do so.

That is absolutely not 100% true. There are a lot of reasons. Why is it desperate for her to do it? The guy doesn't have to be the one to always be the aggressor. A lot of guys don't want to risk the relationship. If he asks, and she says no, most of the time that relationship is done.

@godfatherfan to each their own , I personally think it’s the man’s job in the relationship to make such calls. I noticed the men in this generation are getting more and more feminine

@godfatherfan If he scared to end the relationship on the question, that he wants to ask, isn't he wasting his time if he thinks she will say no?
- +1 y
@Qdbrown Not necessarily. What if you meet someone that you feel inside is "the one"? And you can feel that in your heart by the 2nd or 3rd, or 10th date (doesn't matter if it is true or not). If you ask her to marry you after a month, you are probably going to get turned down (if she isn't crazy), and she will probably end it thinking you are nuts. Flip that around. Maybe you love the relationship, but still are not ready for marriage, or maybe you just are unsure if she is truly the one yet, but you have a strong feeling she is. She wants you to ask her to marry you and start pressuring you to do it. Since you are not 100% yet, you freak out and just end the relationship.
the fact is that if either asked for marriage, and the other wasn't sure, you should be able to talk it out and stay in the relationship. But realistically, that won't happen most of the time.
I met my ex-wife Jan 10, 1989. I went into the military Feb 14, 1989 (valentines day). I came home on leave May 27th and proposed. That was insane. I didn't even know her. I was scared of asking because I had no idea if she would say yes or no, she was still a senior in high school. She did say yes. In the end, we were engaged for 5 years and together for 25. It worked out for me, but if she had said no, we would have been done and I would not have my 3 boys.

What Girls & Guys Said

Thetre will always be exceptions, and not the rule, but if the girl proposes, something is not right. Is this a deal killer? No.
There are guys who need to be told what to do. And quite ironically some of these guys are well-off, have a big career, but need someone calling the shots. My sales women knew the types, and knew how to push into a decision.
If you examine the guy, he was likey a mamma's boy who was led to success by her direction. It was just lucky that he was in a place to replace a mom with a wife.
Now if you know what that is, most would say there should be red flags. At some point she is going to take more self based decisions that will generally turn the guy into a doormat.

+1 yI think it's messed up, or seems so. What does that mean exactly?
To me... women are looking for someone to commit to them, submit unto them so they have emotional support through creation of family. They are hormonally variable and require support to produce and raise children. If she's submitting to him, then that's backwards... what is she saying... I submit to the man's emotions?
She can counter propose, or start it.
I guess my thinking falls traditionally based upon the structure of the family and roles. There is a hormonal arrangement of nature is there not?
That said women can be very strong in their own ways and still be women or feminine.
00 ReplyI would not do it and in general I would not recommend it, but, whatever makes a couple happy is OK so I would not use the word "wrong" for it.

+1 yThat's a good question. I think there is still something to be said for the traditional route of the guy approaching the parent (s) of the woman for her hand in marriage and then formally asking her himself. Not totally opposed to the woman trying but I think traditional still makes it special.

+1 yIt's morally wrong and offensive. A man should immediately dump any woman who does such a thing. It's about equivalent to saying "you might be a Virgin but we're having sex on the first date. Come on don't be a loser" so basically only scumbags

It's because women are the gatekeepers of sex and men are the gatekeepers of relationships and marriage. So if you're going to try and push a man to marriage it's not really different than a man trying to push a woman into sex.

you are a fonking dumbarse shiznod. Hopefully you die alone as I feel sorry for any woman that would pair up with someone like you.
- +1 y
@godfatherfan how would I die alone? Most desirable women would rather cut off their own arm then propose to a man. Lmfao. Good luck waiting on a woman to make the first move smh.
+1 yNot wrong at all. Dawn Marie was proactive enough to propose to me, although she did so a bit too quickly. If a woman is just waiting for her boyfriend to propose instead of proposing herself, she needs to practise Habit 1 of Highly Effective People: Be Proactive. Just because it’s not as traditional doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yNo. I got a ladyfriend who proposed to her husband. They've been happily married now for 17 years.
When a woman says she won't propose because it's a sign of desperation what she really means is her pride supercedes her wanting to get married. And she's probably not ready for marriage.
10 ReplyNot wrong, no. But I do think it’s even more important for the couple to be sure that they are on the same page before women try proposing than it is when men propose (although the couple really needs to have that conversation either way).

+1 yNo it’s not wrong. Many women do propose. Just maybe not the way men do. But some women do it that way too.
Many women just beg a guy to marry him. That’s proposing10 Reply
+1 yTechnically, there's nothing wrong with it but for some reason it just feels off.
I believe a man should do it and some other things first.10 Reply
+1 yIta not wrong, it's just a personal choice. I mean if she wants to then go ahead. I think most men and women are still doing it the traditional way though.

+1 yOf course not, a woman can definitely also propose!
I personally just know that I wouldn't tho just cause I don't care enough about marriage11 Reply- +1 y
And even if I cared, I wouldn't... feels off but I would never shame a woman for doing so
No, it is not wrong. Its a nice gesture, in fact. But if she wants to do it, she has to make sure her boyfriend is ok with it.
10 ReplyWhere I’m from It would be considered weird and less appealing.

+1 yNo. If a woman told me she wanted to marry me I'd be the happiest guy in the world.
I don't expect her to drop on one knee to ask though, cause that kind of a masculine behavior in my mind. The point is she expressed her feelings.10 Reply

Yes, it's wrong.
If the guy hasn't proposed after some time then it means there's something wrong with him

Why do men have to do everything?10 Reply
