How did marriage get destroyed?

For me, its obvious that the government and sexual freedom caused the downfall of marriage but I want to know what others think too. The downfall of marriage will cause the downfall of society.

The first thing that dealt the first major blow was the introduction of no-fault divorces, then the concept of "irreconcilable differences". And I don't care what anyone says, prenuptial agreements are also a major part of the problem. That's all just the administrative part of it.

Then when you distort the objective end of sex - the procreation of children - and divorce it (pun not intended) from the context within which it is intended - marriage - you also have problems. Abortion, birth control, premarital sex and multiple sexual partners, cohabitation, pornography - and yes, the concept of gay "marriage" - all of it and the accompanying fruits have had devastating effects on marriage and our cultural mindset on it.

And of course, there are the ways in which people today have been shaped and formed. They're told to delay key life decisions until after they go to college and major in something totally worthless and subsequently put themselves in debt for the next ten years. They also don't understand what marriage is and what it requires. Rather than getting married younger, when they're more ready and able to embrace changes, to grow and adapt to new people and new situations, they wait until their late 20s and early to mid 30s.

There are many things eroding marriage today. Reversing all of this will take several generations. Our society will suffer a lot before then, but it will ultimately be for the better.

Feminism and family courts, divorce laws in the west.

In other countries marriage is still stable and secure.

Western countries are the ones that marriage is collapsing in. Women want to party and ride the cock carousel until age 30 or so, act like men, pursue carry success over family success, women apply for that vast numbers of divorces and family courts often give the kids, alimony and child support payments to the woman and there if no fault in most states meaning she can have an affair to kill the marriage and then get half his assets and the kids and the courts will make him pay for her ongoing existence via alimony.

Marriage isn't stressed in the society anymore. People aren't pushed and encouraged to marry, settle down, have a family, wait for marriage... now every film and every show and song is about a hookup, one night stand, having sex outside marriage is the norm now, people are encouraged to live together.

Marriage is called "oppression" and the "patriarchy" with many feminist groups. Women sleep around like crazy now so men don't even need to marry to get regular sex and if they do marry they risk her divorcing and ruining him financially so basically, in the western countries, you are an absolute fool if you marry.

For centuries marriage was between the people getting married with no government involvement. When the government got involved is when things started to go downhill.

Since it is between two people and the government, it is now a 3 way contract.

I'm all the government aspect being removed. All the legal benefits of marriage should simply be given to everyone.

Such as if I want to add someone to my health insurance policy, don't need to be married, just prove they live at my save address.

If I want to file taxes with someone, simply file jointly with someone that lives at the same address or just let single filing have the same tax rate as married.

If I want to be in a polygamist or poly type relationship with a sister wife or be in love with a man and a woman, I should be able to do so and add both of them to my insurance.

No government involvement, just let us do it however we want.

Because of the court system that makes men avoid divorce, and the lack of Disney prince movies that make boys fantasize about marriage regardless of how difficult marriage can be, in the same way that girls have all kinds of Disney Princess movies

In order:

1. No-fault divorce.
2. Welfare replaced dad in many cases.
3. A lot of guys already get the benefits of marriage without the obligations.
4. Easy sex. Goes with #3 to some extent, except #3 is more about couples that never marry and this is more about a life of hook ups.
5. Porn addiction. Lots of guys are so caught in their fantasy world that a real live woman seems like a downgrade. She likely wouldn't be, but they are lost in the delusion.
6. Man-child syndrome. A lot of guys my age work crappy, low-paying jobs and are not even focused on improving their future. They live at home for free and could not begin to afford even a 50% share of their own place,

There are many factors including many laws which don’t favor marriage, public schools destroying the image of the traditional family, this new men versus women mentality in the world, the lack of understanding between the differences of how men and women function mentally, sexually, and otherwise and finally there is so much selfishness in the world today. That is an indictment of both genders, not just one side.

Money and the nosy government profiting from it (especially in divorce). Money helps but money is also the risk factor here.

Society can rebuild itself without marriage. We don't need it to function. Marriage was fabricated. Math and technology is not.
