A woman can just up and divorce her husband after he help her pay off her college debt.
Yup, honestly... I paid off my ex-wifes college debt, and paid for her to finish her bachelor's, and get a master. Then didn't work for more than half the marriage. But in divorce after 24 years I got out of having to pay her alimony for 12 years. I pay 0% percent alimony... so I guess in a way it was like paying forward on my divorce.
Honestly, anything that was hers, prior to marriage she is entitled to retain after the marriage... this includes property and debt. But if you pay it off for her there's no guarantee on any return on investment. Women who earn more than men, do pay alimony as well, so it's not like men don't get alimony.
Me personally I would not pay it off. But if you marry and file jointly for taxes... if she jss federal loans, they could claim your tax returns if she's not keeping up on payments. Because those tax returns are joint property.
Being married her debt can affect your credit score, if you start acquiring joint property. And joint property you own with her, can be reprocessed if she defaults.
In general it's good to be married to a person in good credit standing. As long as she can pay her own bills, i would married and pick up the utilities bills, or greater share of rent or mortage, but let jer pay off her own debt. If mske psyments for her, then it opens the door for a legsl argument that you took responsibility for her debt. I would never marry someone that can't, pay their debte. Again I be more than willing to help out with other thing fianically to maje easier on her fianically... but I would not pay that debt off.
In divorce later, if become unemployed or you decide that can stsy home to raise children... without a prenuptial, you could become liable for the debt, as far as divorce proceedings go. She could argue that she quit her job to stay home with the kids, only because you promised to pay on her loans.10 Reply

She got all new implants and it was very expensive. It took years before it was all done and cost thousands of dollars. Spon after she found a boyfriend and wanted a divorce. It's not like this guy could get the teeth back.

+1 yI would not be so concerned about it at your age. I am thinking you are out of the recent grad dating pool, no? If so, why ask other than you want to complain about women. That is my first guess.
I know that older guys like to try to hang onto their youth, but I think this is a stretch and not something that you should be concerned with. I did not have education debt that had to be paid off, so not an issue for my fiancé. Whew! Bullet dodged for him!
That was going to be my plan though. Trick him into loving me and marrying me so I could get free debt relief. Isn't that what most/all girls do? Of course not. This is either a very poor trolling attempt or you just want to pick fights.
Guess what? Work that out BEFORE you get married. That is what any reasonable, smart person would do.

Women trade husband's like cars. Women are not capable of loving anyone but themselves. That's how you can abort you babies and celebrate doing it.

Yep, nailed it. Here to bitch and moan about women. I figured as much.

How am I wornge? Prove to me I'm wornge instead of just calling me misogynistic
- +1 y
First, I have no clue what "worng" is. Second, I did not call you anything. You just scream it on your own. Third, you cannot say "women are not capable of loving anyone but themselves" and mean every single one. That just shows your ignorance. That means I can lump every single guy in with someone like you and say all men just bitch and cry about women.
I would think at your advanced age you would have better things to do than come to GaG and troll. - +1 y
The divorce rates and which one that files for the divorce is the determination of which party is the biggest problem. Research has shown that 30 percent of children born in a marriage are not the husband's kids. A woman never has to wonder if she is the mother to a child but a father does.

Who hurt you Mr. Tracker? At your age, this issue should not bother you anymore since you are past the age procreation.
But let me ask you something else. How do you view the fact that teenage boys want to fornicate every girl that shows the first signs of puberty? I am sure that you were no exception and that you could tried everything to get into a girl's pants? Don't you think that men bear at least 50% of the problem you are addressing? I would say that the ratio is rather 75% of guys responsible vs. 25% of the women. - +1 y
This is not for me. I been married for 45 years. This is a question Sotheby's younger men will see how bad the idea of getting married to a college woman is. Thank you for your concern.
Why would a woman marry a man with a lot of college loan debt? That’s what I did, but I married for love not as a transaction. So did he. Paying off his loan debt is a priority, which is why he moved in with me. I pay no rent/mortgage or utilities since we live where I work, which allows him to pay aggressively against his debt. But it’s his debt, not ours. Neither one of us is worried about splitting up once his debt is paid. It looks like you’re just here because you’re bitter.

+1 yShe doesn’t even have to wait until it’s paid off. She can divorce him before they’re even done cleaning up the wedding reception and take everything he has and half his income for the rest of his life. Pay off her debts and go about her merry way.
Smart men aren’t marrying anymore.20 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThey shouldn't! In fact that's usually my comeback question when a woman asks how much I make. That and how many kids she has. Each kid is estimated to be -160k so for example if she has 3 kids she better have a net worth of at least a half million or she's a bad investment... sorry, thems the breaks.
10 ReplyMarriage for a guy is never a financial good choice. Because you are going to lose money on it in basically all cases. So if money is the reason you might need to consider keeping and investing your own money.
10 Replythey shouldn't.
I'm sure there are people ready to pull the "it's a man's duty" to help the woman and he should "man up" for her mistakes.

How can he be sure she will stay with him after he pays it off? He has no guarantee.
- +1 y
He can’t be.
- +1 y
Then he should not marry her.
Nope because you'll be expected to pay it off for her and then when she leaves you, you gotta pay her even more and more on top of that if you have kids with her

Keep them single and childless
+1 ySo don't marry her. How is this so difficult for you?
