+1 yOh my I wonder?
It couldn’t be the high divorce rates.
It can’t be that in a divorce the woman gets half of everything plus the kids and child support which she will probably spend on herself.
It can’t be the female entitlement we see ever so frequently.
It can’t be that the me too movement has made it so women could ruin a innocent man’s life with a single tweet.
It can’t be how the economy is so trash that just paying for yourself is already near impossible and so are paying for a wedding and the other expenses that come with marriage.
It can’t be that men are just stressed out enough as is and don’t have the ability to put up with the stresses of having a wife and possibly kids.
Nope it’s none of those things! Instead it’s male entitlement, the patriarchy, the stars not aligning properly and his ex girlfriend.21 Reply- +1 y
LOL you better stay safe out there friend

Because many guys hear only the bad sides of marriage like being used, being bound to a partner, having to pay for ages if she wants a divorce...
It´s the negative conditioning about relationships that keep men away. Another aspect I see is that there many alternatives that give guys the intimacy they want without having the responsibility and accountability of a marriage.
Like there are so many relationship types where as a guy you can get what you want without having to give more than you what so there is no need to marry.11 Reply- +1 y
Yeah they read to much fear mongering on the internet is what I can see.
Because it’s their way of saying they are scared / don’t want commitment. I will literally dismiss any potential dating partner if they have any negative attitude towards marriage

No it’s because marriage favors women. We could lose everything

Women instigate the vast majority of divorces due to having too many options. They always have grass is greener syndrome

Some don't realize it. Some pick the wrong women. Some Captain. So let's sit this out because some got fucked over? No legacy, no children.. just exist on the earth. To each their own.

Yes to each their own for sure.

Nobody is forced to get married.00 Reply
+1 yI believe in marriage even though I had a very bad experience in my first one. If I ever married again I would be much more careful in the woman I chose. My ex wife of 9 years is a covert narcissist, in Nov. 2018 she filled for divorce, hid my mail, went to court, and then continued to live with me for another 7 months, until one day I came home from work to an empty house and the decree sitting on my bed. All of her things and my daughter's room were gone, I later found out other details that are pretty hard to process and I blamed myself for.
I took a lot of time to remember who I was and was able to separate what I was at fault for and things that were beyond my control.
My ex now keeps my daughter believing I don't want to see her, while I'm paying about half of my income for my daughter's health insurance and child support.10 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yIt’s not necessarily that every man who doesn’t want marriage is scared as some women may think that’s the reason. Always funny how women answer for men in situations that men only understand like they had a pair of balls at one time in their life. Men don’t want marriage for a lot of reasons. One being that a lot of women these days aren’t worthy of it. Or they’ve seen other men in their life shafted by marriage and the law. They’re more focused on achieving something else like a job or business. They’re not religious like me so they don’t believe in marriage. There’s numerous reasons. Maybe he feels he’s not worthy of it because he doesn’t see himself as a man financially.

I don't disagree. if that is explained then of course that is his choice. it's the ones who complain that it's not fair and Joe down the street got divorced because he got fat and lazy but she is automatically a whore for leaving. I understand the difference but do men?
Marriage is not for everyone
If you are not ready to be naked and have laid bear all that makes you, you before another imperfect human for the rest of your natural life, then marriage isn't for you.
If you are not ready to sacrifice, forgive and grow constantly - then marriage is not for you.
If you realize marriage is not for you and your own and honest about it then you are one ahead in the game of life.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yBecause marriage is not something that has any benefit to men. Not kidding, why sign a contract where if the woman (and women kill marriage in 90% of divorces) chooses on a whim to terminate the contract he loses everything he has, even property he had prior to marriage, and loses his family and is forced to pay child support and alimony for a choice that was not his, to a woman who was supposed to love him and follow wedding vows. Women treat marriage like something you just wipe your ass with and throw away. The further left a woman leans the worse it is too. Screw that.

Im not. Its because of the high rates of divorce. In some states men sometimes are liable for spousal support and some of the other ugly stuff.

+1 yI can only answer for myself. It is because I am currently too selfish to want to be obligated to anyone. I like to go where I want, when I want, with whom I want, spending my money how I like, and married men can't, or at least should not, do that.
I've also worked on a lot of divorces, and I know my personality quirks need to be rectified or they would inevitably lead to that for me if I were to marry.01 Reply- +1 y
It's not for everyone. That's fair.
+1 yI'm not against it myself it's what I want... but I can understand it... marriage is a big commitment legally if you're a man... If anything goes wrong or your wife turns out to be not the person you expected... She has the upper hand almost all the time... And guys today think that most modern women are not worth the fight because they tend to be unfaithful and selfish... so the woman would leave them sooner or later... And that actually happens a lot nowadays...

+1 yPlease name a good reason for a man to get married these days. The number one reason men are refusing to get married. The Family law In the court system. Until women change the law to make it more equal, you can forget getting married. It's going to get a lot worse before it even thinks about getting better. When 75 percent of the wife's cheats and still walks away with every thing, F U women.

Seriously, you really should look into MGTOW, MEN by the millions are walking from marriage. Your question proves this out.
- +1 y
Google, MEN WALKING AWAY FROM MARRIAGE. Google , women can't find a husband. Google, Never marry a single mother. Google. Passport wife's. Google the marriage rates. Have a nice day.
- +1 y
The bottom line on why men are so against marriage. Women are not worth the risk a man has to take to get married.

+1 yBecause in the modern Western context, marriage is a system of legalized prostitution whereby a man bribes a woman with food/drink, housing, emotional security, job security, transportation, an expensive ring, and a lavish wedding.
02 Reply- +1 y
That is so sad.
- +1 y
This comes in exchange for allowing her to have regular sex and knowing who her children are through long-term institutionalized monogamy.
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yFor the same reason women are so against commitment these days... see how that works, it kind of goes hand in hand.

We are making more money now so I get it.
Opinion Owner+1 ySo everybody's happy 🙂👍
Because we often end up living in one room whilst the ex wife lives in our house. Then we see the child if allowed once every month. We are legally abligated to pay for the wife's accommodation whilst she fucks her new man in our bed and our children have to call him Daddy.

And I am sure the men never do anything. He stops being a leader, stops being a man, letting themselves go etc etc etc etc it's always our fault. We should just stay for these fat slobs who changed over time and now are worthless pieces of crap. Everyone talks like you but you never admit to the other half that goes on.
+1 yBecause men have learned marriage favours men
Top 3 reason why women want to get married.
1. The ring
2. The honeymoon
3. The divorce ( Gets his car, his house, and the kids).

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yMarriage is often seen as unnecessary commitment and as a high risk of failure. And failure will result in significant loss.
Unnecessary commitment as co-habiting is a reasonable alternative.
Risk of failure due to high divorce rates, and many initiated by women. Women who may well benefit disproportionally in divorce settlements.
We might also reflect that women are not presenting themselves as the potential loyal wives that some men aspire to marrying.
04 Reply- +1 y
Men get to choose who they marry. So don't blame us if you suck at it.
Opinion Owner+1 yMy comment is based on commonly observed behaviour. It's not contentious although you may not like it.
Men choose who they marry based on what they know and observe at the time.- +1 y
Well hopefully they put in enough time to make a good choice.

Tripped and hit their head. It makes no sense so what do you think about people who do things that make no sense?
- +1 y
You might be the biggest fucking idiot I have ever encountered with that comment. What is happening right now.
- +1 y
Another deranged person who says marriage is awesome. Then anyone asks why they have no reason. Smh. Good job.
- +1 y
You said they tripped and hit their head. You go through life encountering married men thinking they all tripped and hit their head? Do ya? If so I would seek help.
- +1 y
I mean, there is no benefit and lots of down sides. So what do you think of people who make decisions like that? I mostly think they are dopes and clueless about women.
- +1 y
There are millions of married men and yes many are happy. Sorry you have read too much negativity on the internet to even think such a thing.
- +1 y
What does them being happy have to do with it? There are plenty of heroin addicts that are pretty happy right now too. And? It's still a dumb decision. There are plenty of morons who bought a Lamborghini and live in a dumpy mobile home because they wanted that car so bad... they may be happy but it's a dumb decision. So what?
- +1 y
Hey you don't have to convince me. Just don't do it. It's not for everyone.
- +1 y
Yes but the reason maybe I come off abrasive about it is this...
1. People always ask me why I'm not married. Gfs always pester me to marry them (even when on day 1 I say I never would ever ever under any circumstances marry) people sometimes are rude about it even when suggesting it.
2. My normal response is why would I? I'm not personally aware of any benefits. And I ask if they would enlighten me. And their only responses make no sense. Like "you will have a woman who loves you" ... which is inherently rude because they are saying what exactly? My girlfriend I'm with now doesn't love me? Or they just come out rude and say stuff like only a moron wouldn't see the benefits and I don't bother talking to morons.
This conversation chases me around. I'm happy to never speak about marriage ever again just as i never have and will never again talk about... I don't know throwing a McDonald's burger in the ocean to see if a shark would eat it. Never thought of that before in my life and never probably will again... that's how i think about marriage. Only to then be confronted about marriage by a whole number of people on a regular basis. - +1 y
There are many women out there that will shack up with you. You're good. It will be okay.
- +1 y
Yeah ik. Further reason like why would I even bother.
- +1 y
I feel the same way. Like what better way to test your love by just staying with that person, then there’s no hassle for a divorce if things end.
+1 ythere's no value in it anymore.
05 Reply- +1 y
There's too many women out their who are willing to have sex without getting married.
- +1 y
What value do you want? You sound like you just want sex which is superficial.
- +1 y
No, I like forming a connection as well. I just don't want to put myself in Statiscal Disadvantage when 80% of women are the ones who file for divorce. Then there's Divorce Court where get treated unfairly. Not to mention I've worked too hard to put myself in a Vulnerable Situation such as Marriage where I could quickly be stripped of half my stuff I've earned or even more. This is Pure Math and I know the odds suck.
- +1 y
I am getting most men on GAG are more worried about their "stuff" then family and legacy. I get it.
- +1 y
Yes, guys (including me) are more worried about their stuff these days because they know how guys get screwed in Divorce Court. It's only natural we would want to be more protective. You would be too if you were a guy. I'm absolutely confident about that. It's okay though, I enjoy a woman I admire without marriage and vice-versa.
