At the same time, is being a husband considered a job?
Every time I thank my wife because she prepares my clothes, packs my lunch and suitcase, she says she's just doing her job. So I was just mulling over this, if being a spouse can be considered a job.
It's true that at the same time she gives me a list of chores almost every day, from the groceries, to service her car and pick up her Amazon drops and deliver stuff for her, but I never thought of it as a job.
I guess to a degree. Being a "parent" is a job, being a "boyfriend" can be a job, giving people advice can be a "job", donating can be a "job".
For me, I have autism and adhd, and mental trauma, and doing these basic tasks can bea "job" to me

doing laundry
washing dishes
those are easy things, you might say, but to me they can be comlpicated or exhausting or make me sore due to adhd lack of stimulation and the mental trauma. its a subjective term. relationships can be difficult if you have parental struggles. Being a wife can be exhausting, on top of that being a mother. Because you have to work and also take care of your children. Modern society pressures you to work more. You get judged if you try to be independant and if you try to be a housewife. So may you try to succeed at your career and being "fully" independant and be there for your children and that is very difficult. My advice is take off unnecessary pressures. It's okay to let your husband work more. It's okay to work less. It's okay to take some "me" time to yourself. But remember, that child needs you.
If you see it as a job, then you have already failed. A job is something you are PAID for because you DON'T want to do. It's something you need to do to put food on the table and have a place to sleep, but not something that you like to do normally. That's why people don't work forever, they retire when they have enough resources to live for the rest of their lives.
Marriage is not a job, it's a commitment. If you don't want to get married, then DON'T get married. I don't understand why someone with a negative outlook on marriage would want to get married, and then half-ass it and treat the other person like crap because they view it as a "job" for them. People should enjoy living their life in the company of their spouse and there should be reciprocity.
Selfish people have ruined the institution of marriage. Before it was "what can I do for you?". Now it's "what can you do for me?". Now you have people calling it a job like it's something they should be compensated for. If anyone sees it as a job, they shouldn't get married because it won't end well for them.

No, I don't see being as a spouse as a job. It's nice that you both aren't taking each other for granted (yet, lol), and still show appreciation for the things you each do. Many couples prefer a sort of unofficial assigning of duties/chores, etc., because it relieves one person of those things, and can be a bit more organized without the overlap. Plus, if one person makes those decisions, primarily, there's less arguing about the specifics, the how it's done. Sometimes the more interaction, the more probability to butt heads.

I've spent a ton of time doing household chores, caring for pets, volunteering, making art that took hours and hours of work, doing science research, writing, etc.
I got paid for none of it, and most of it I enjoyed, So none of it is a job, and some was even leisure/entertainment activities.
There are jobs that involve those tasks being done 10 fold or more, but I don't have those jobs.
There is also that bosses typically do not give you a roof over your head, love, sex, and all your bills paid, while giving you a paycheck on top of that, and spending most of their paycheck to cover your half of the former while they work overtime on a job. So when women insist that being a stay at home wife is a job, No, no it is not.

When in a relationship, the amount of that labor isn't supposed to increase, as both people are supposed to clean up after themselves.
The only difference is that you only need to cook half of the time instead of every night, and if you have kids, then early on cleaning up after them.
I think the women who complain are either gold diggers, or married to slobs who never clean their own messes or help with the kids while home. And if he has no time to cook or do dishes because of his job, and he makes enough to pay a maid's/chef's salary, then he can just spend his money ordering food/eating out instead, as its cheaper, thus removing the need for his wife to cook for him or clean up after him (laundry takes like 1 minute of effort, no one needs help with that).
My situation is outside the norm though, I expect a wife to pay her half of the bills, I don't want kids, I know how to cook, I'm home all day, and a woman would struggle to find something to clean in my home because I generally don't leave messes and I'm the hyper organized type, so messes are rarely created to begin with.
I'm already doing the things some women are calling their "job". So in my situation, it would actually amount to her asking to get paid to do nothing.

I've never looked at being a husband or a father a job. Doing chores is part of living. I guess, if your wife does everything then it should be considered a job, however, I was taught to pitch-in. We always shared responsibilities, It was a team effort, no men's chore's and woman's chores, just chores.

I would say that could qualify easily as MORE than a full-time job with NO pay!
being a wife is a mission in life not just to serve her husband but raise decent kids.
It's not. It's a commitment not a job.
Family is not a business/company. Anyone who argue how come babysitters/maids/butlers get paid but housewives don't just don't realize that babysitters/maids/butlers work as those to earn money as a living, they don't do it for the family. If housewives demands to get paid, might as well let them pay for rent as well.
Well, I do see family as a business though, I am already planning the future professional and political positions of my children.
My father and grandfather did that too.
Then that's not unconditional love. You're doing it for your gains not for the family.
It's how things work here.
It was done for my and my sisters too.
And it's how you're overpopulated
Actually we have a birth shortage here.
Ideally we should make more children and expel illegal immigrants.
Not compared to the early times where families were actually genuine. It's only decreasing but it's not to a point where you're almost getting extinct
Or i could also say that could be a cause for the birth shortage and ask to why there are many kids getting depressed. In my case i don't want my children depressed which is why i don't wanna raise them yet in my current position. Also because i'm not so eager to just make use of them for me because i know how that would affect them
