What’s your ideal wedding?

I got engaged last Friday night so this is a very salient question for me. I have regularly attended my church for the past 25 years and I can't imagine getting married anywhere other than my church. Because I have been a member of the choir for 23 years, the choir will sing at our wedding if I request it. We have a good choir and it will make the event very special. I may write a song to sing to my bride at the wedding, or maybe sing a duet with another choir member.

Reception afterwards perhaps at Maggiano's Italian Restaurant. It is an easy way to plan a reception and know that the result will be what I want. My brother is a professional keyboard player and he and a few of his friends can provide live musc. Probably 125-150 guests. I would easily get 60-70 guests just inviting my family that lives nearby, 20 guests from my work, at least 50 from my church, and 10-12 fraternity brothers and their guests. My bride has very few family in the US and I doubt any of them will travel from China for the wedding. But, if they do, they will be welcomed!

Afterwards, a honeymoon to the mountains of western North Carolina or eastern Tennessee.

Small, private, intimate, simple.

We got married at our home, reception was in our backyard / back patio.

Started at 2pm, everyone was gone by 7pm.

Less than 5k spent.

37 people, including us and the celebrant.

Perfect day.

No more than 20-25k, small 3 hour wedding ceremony/reception in a pretty large lavish extravagantly decorated event tent, preferably with a lake/ocean view, 10-50 guests total, fruits/desserts and lots of comfort food but served elegantly/formally by a chef, and it will be alcohol free. I don’t trust anyone enough to want them in my wedding party, so no wedding party but they can be a guest. I’m debating on rings (but if so, will be a rare stone). I want engraved dogtags like they do in the military. My outfit will be custom and his will be more casual than formal as he wears khaki or gray. I want a small orchestra playing, unique save the date invites, and a large 3-5 tier cake. There will be a unique unforgettable join bachelor/ette party experience the night before the wedding, and we will leave for honeymoon same or next night as the wedding.

Id love for us to tie our hands together while holding hands and wearing a nice white dress and him a nice suit. Then I would want us to kiss then jump off a cliff together to our deaths :D

Cheap in small church with 50 closest friends, no gifts, and honeymoon at the courthouse State ceremony 🙃. Use wedding money for half of the 20% down on 500,000 home 🏡

Good thinking. I feel the same with my values, except I’d want a lakeside or little church wedding with a very small number of people. A nice but not great meal and an interstate honeymoon. No white weddings for me, if I ever marry.

We go to this golf course that I used to shoot weddings at. It's one of the most beautiful places and the food is amazing. I'd have a bunch of my friends take turns djing the video would be made by one person. Nothing fancy, just someone holding a camera and getting the general vibe of the day.

I'd probably invite a bunch of people I've worked with and for. Have a cigar rolling station but I'd pay him a little extra to give people the option of rolling a blunt instead.
