Why even bother getting married nowadays?

I'll say the same thing that I've said here for years now. The problem is not with marriage itself. It's with the people who are getting married.

See, I somewhat agree with you that the cultural fabric changed, but that is ultimately because the members of the culture, the people who make the culture, changed. They gave into distorted ideas of what marriage is, what it requires, and what it is ordered towards, likewise with sex.

And that's to say nothing about how generally immature people are today and how ill-prepared they are for marriage, and for life in general.

Lifelong marriages are entirely possible, but people need to change their thinking and acting.

That is why marriages were so much better before. Nowadays, they are not even worth it. Besides, the divorce rate is way too high. I wouldn't get on a boat with a 70% chance that it will sink. The only 20+ year marriages are the ones from past generations. You will never get that today.

That's where I disagree. The people who don't get married today are the exact ones who would have been married then divorced back when divorce wasn't so common. The hose are the ones who are getting divorced back in the day, and they're still the ones who are good divorced now. Play difference is there's a lot more hoes these days.
