Something that is really telling from these answers is that few people can give actual benifits. What u tend to see is a lot of excuses but very few actual metrics to answer the original question. It's even more interesting how many people are willing to comment w/o actually providing an answer which is an answer onto itself.

How ignorant for you to believe women take no risks. They've only lost valuable fertile years with one man that they'll never be able to get back, or else are the ones solely stuck with raising the children alone after the marriage ends. On top of having children, they lose out on their youth when it would have been golden to get more education, and get a career and get some time in to do something to support herself other than work part time jobs while raising said-kids. But oh no, just keep pissing and moaning that you men seem to be the only ones risking it all without thinking for a moment what women go through too in any divorce. Women would LOVE to get back years to do things right or do them over, while men have an endless supply of sperm they can give, a woman's age bracket to have kids is usually over with by the time most divorces happen. Any way to get those years back? ... I didn't think so.

Women don't take SOME, and men don't take MUCH MUCH more. They each take different risks that can be equally devastating. Just because you happen to find more value in whatever you think it is men take, doesn't mean there isn't equal risk for a woman. You won't realize this as a man. If you think it's financial risk and you think that's more important, that's your opinion only. Women have biological risk that they can never recover from and they devalue in society when they are older, well past their prime years that they can never get back. That is a risk a woman takes in one man she chooses to marry, and to women, that's impossible to recover from. I'm not here to say we women have MORE risk, like what you're doing. I'm saying we have equal risk, and no one side is having it worse than the other. I'm saying stop with the "all the risk" and "much much more" risk, when that's nonsense. Both sides are taking a risk in their own way.

@Ozanne The risk of "getting older" is an inherent cost of breathing. It's not contingent on marriage so that would not he a risk a woman takes. Nor does that address the question of what are the benifits of marriage to men. Are you attempting to make the claim that their are no benifits to marriage for both men or women?

It's very relevant. You can't have it both ways. What risks are you thinking are MUCH MUCH more than a woman's? His wallet? Let's face it - if you think the man has such a financial risk you're insinuating that his money is going to his ex wife, leaving her stable. Isn't that what you're saying? Meanwhile, he can easily get into a relationship with no kids living with him, as they're likely with the wife -- since that's what a lot of you guys complain about, that the system is against them -- able to physically start a new family at any age. Meanwhile, a woman's time is lost. You figure it out.

A marriage and family can give your life long term purpose. Success in business is timely many people that come to you when you're successful in business want your money, while a family is also there when you're not successful. It's a question of building something that lasts and creates a place where you like to come and be, also you're not alone when you retire. There are people that care about you. Friendships are not that deep and can get lost after time because circumstances change and you don't see each other anymore.
I think men don't take all risks, yes they take financial risks but a woman has more long lasting risks. Because it's more likely for her to be killed by her husband than the other way round, plus she's the one that gets pregnant and isn't able to work for a longer time. So both carry risks but they both can get meaning out of the relationship.

@LiamJHayden The percentage of woman killed by their husband is a insignificant percentage vs the number of men who are financially crippled by divorce. Pregnant woman are compasated by both their employers and by their husband's wages so how is that a risk. If they both "carry risk" as you say then doesn't that mean there's no reason for women to get married?

There is a risk to anything in life like crossing a street since the next car could run you over. So that the point isn't about the risks but about the potential of purpose it can give a person in the long-term. There's no place without risks and any interaction with other people gives you risks.

@Lionman95 Which is why we mitigate risk, w/ traffick lights, seat belts etc. Which means men need to learn to mitigate the risk of marriage. Not getting married would completely eliminate the risk which is what more and more guys are now realizing. It's just common sense.

@Lionman95 I think I understand your problem. "Happy" is an intangible metric. So its not something u can factor. It also is irrelevant, because an equal comparison would be comparing to to a man "happiness" after going through a divorce. It's also yelling that it's nearly impossible for anyone to provide a tangible metric that benifits a man whereas all the risk are tangible. That's why a question like this is so great because it ignites critical thinking skills, and once they are used it's obvious that men don't derrive much benifit for marriage. That's why people try to use emotional buzzwords to convince men.
