When you get legally married, the marriage certificate is a legal contract, registered with the government. It confers special rights and responsibilities to the married couple.

Generally, a business entity with two or more members is classified for federal tax purposes as either a corporation or a partnership. That general rule applies equally even if the two members are husband and wife.

So, as far as the government is concerned, marriage is a business partnership. Of course, even individuals are considered assets of the Corporation of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA of Washington DC and its sub-corporations, the individual States.

Benefits conferred or mandated by the government include:
    - Government benefits: ...
    - Tax and estate planning benefits: ...
    - Medical and death benefits: ...
    - Family benefits: Adoption rights and joint foster care rights. ...
    - Visitation rights: ...
    - Mutual property: ...

Other benefits may include things like:
    - Employment benefits—health insurance, family leave, bereavement leave.
    - Consumer benefits—discounts to families or couples.

Between husband and wife, marriage is also like a business. They have to work out how to run it smoothly for themselves and their children. They also have to plan for their long-term goals. But each couple does those things differently. Some marriages are hierarchical, some couples have separate assets, and some couples are egalitarian.

My wife and I have an egalitarian model. We both contribute financially, share our income and assets, tasks and chores, and agree on important decisions with the goal of mutual benefit, happiness and a comfortable retirement. We are a team. Neither is the boss. In that sense, we are not only best friends but also equal business partners.

I consider marriage to be a tool. It's a valuable tool for many women to be & feel more secure. Without marriage & the stigmas surrounding abandoning offspring, many men would not likely stick around.

This is because men didn't evolve to produce around 4 billion sperm cells a month to just be monogamous. Monogamy was created by women. Since women can only produce around 1 egg per month & they're the childbearers, it only makes sense why they'd want marriage so much. It increases likelihood of survival.

Marriage should be just a confirmation of a current state. Two people love each other and want others to know it.

The possibility for the same last name without explaining too much. Being considered as a family by public offices and so on are just additions.

I don't need marriage to lead my witchy life. But I wouldn't mind one if I meet someone special. I wouldn't also mind just being together without any confirmation. I don't need one.

So no. I don't consider marriage as a business.

No. But with women today you have to kind of approach it that way. You just have to keep an eye out for her intangibles. Because the best candidate isn't always going to appear that way on the surface. I mean at our ages if she is that quality of a woman on the surface she wouldn't be single.

No. It has business aspects to it, but it is not itself a business.

As much as I consider murder as death.

Just ask the pinks for prenuptial agreements and you'll see what I mean.

It is a partnership but I would not be so clinical about it. There is a big emotional component too.

For most women it's a business. For most men it's just a trap.
