Marriage - business contract or love union?

I'll be honest, I see my marriage as a mutually beneficial business partnership first; and a love union second - and this notion is not as "cold" as it might appear at first, because when I had to pick the business partner for life, I picked up the woman I loved.

To call marriage a business contract is to undermine its significance.

Likewise to use the term "love" union imply an compartment emotional definition of 'love' which is at odds with the historic one of service and unconditional commitment.

The historic definition of 'love' is far more committed than a business contract, where as the current emotional definition is basically pointless all-together as you would need no contract to bind that which is naturally drawn.

Neither. My wife and i were just young and didn't know anything. We didn't even know what love meant. We just figured, we liked each other so why not? That was 10 years ago. Maybe not the conventional or even the wisest advice. And its certainly not been easy or perfect, but every day is an adventure and we commit to doing the best we can together. And as each day, each hardship and each joyful moment goes by, staying together becomes necessity and the thought of not being together is impossible.

The question is a Both rather than an Either/Or. An executed "good faith" verbal commitment is the ideal world for all parties. And obviously, if there is no written Standing then anyone does any and every thing that their depraved minds can perceive. All the various forms of Poly or Open relationships, including but not limited too, LGBT.

Business doesn't mean being heartless - in my opinion you can help someone while gaining nothing material from it, but if there's a moral or heartwarming satisfaction it's still good business.

Yes, I see them as such and I think they should be balanced.
If one is always the taker or always the giver, it won't last - I think you've had the experience of being the only giver in a relationship.

It's realistically both. Relationships are transactional, that includes platonic, familial and romantic. You provide an ear for a friend and expect them to do the same. Depending on the couple, they delegate the chores where they either handle them all the time or switch off, pay certain bills or the share of the bills or do something in lieu of paying the bills. It really helps to also care about and cherish the other person as well.

To me, marriage is 100% about love. My only thing is I need to marry an intelligent woman so she doesn't do stupid things that will tear down what I am trying to build financially. I can't marry a sucker or someone who is susceptible to scams or sales.

Keep in mind that if you're in the United States and that contract starts to run into trouble, you're going to be at a serious disadvantage as a man when you go to court.

But, for me, love union first.
