Does society realize not everyone is marriage material or desires marriage!

Outside of cultures that have arranged marriages whose pushing them?

I don't count wedding dress advertisements, social media posts or purity culture as a "push" considering you can usually ignore or opt out of such things (unless you are attending a school where the sex ed curriculum is centered on abstinence, but that's another story).

Marriage is not rated E for Everyone and I think most people have realized that by now.

If you are referring to the US tax system, that needs an overhaul regardless.

You can only be "pushed" if you allow yourself to be. The reason we are here today is because men and women got together for millions of years and had children. So that is the norm and it is what is best for the continuation of the human race. And "marriage" is a form of family building that is best for the success of those children. So you should be thankful that "society" encourages it or you wouldn't be here.

Having said that, I agree that individual choice about what you chose your own individual future to be should take precedence over what other people think your future should be. And in this case it does. You are free not to listen to their advice.

In eastern countries such as India the reason is societal and more so economic. Women trade their youth, beauty and reproductive rights for socioeconomic security. Places where you need a man to protect you and make sure you dont starve to death tend to push women for marriage. Men feel much less pressure.

It’s probably a push back against the deconstruction of society. Obviously everyone will do what they want but it’s good to have a positive influence for those that want to have a life long relationship and have children.

No more like striaght people can't mind their business about others views on marriage and having children - I'm not here to support straight people and the patriach as I dont support it - I'm part of the LGBTQ community
