How hard is the marriage file process for non-religious people?

My companion and I've agreed with the marriage for several reasons, which has been already discussed. Both of us are atheists so we don't want a large ceremony, are opting for the cheaper version and the guests will be limited to just my direct family members and two long-time friends as required.

Well moving from that, is the filing process that hard? I've never done this so excuse my ignorance. I thought all the process was done either on the date of the marriage or days in advance but I'm getting loaded with instructions about documents needing to be turned in a couple months before, medical exams dones and then you have to wait another 8 days and finally they set up the date base on their available spots. I was really clueless on all that, lol.

Honestly how hard is the marriage process for non-religious folks?

No harder than it is for those that are religious. All we had to do is go to the county and fill out some paperwork.
We could then get married by anyone that is certified, which takes a couple 2 3 minutes on line to do.
My brother in law married his daughter and now son in law.
Go to Vegas, there are places all over the city you can get married in.

The answer depends ENTIRELY on where you live, which you haven't told us, so I don't expect that you will get any useful answers.

I'm pretty sure all you need to do is take the appropriate documents to the clerk's office and they give you a marriage license. That's it, makes no difference in regards to whether or not you are religious.

Depends on where. Here in Washington to be married all you have to do is sign the license, have two witnesses sign it, then hand it to the clerk to be recorded. In the United States it is unconstitutional to require couples to have a religious officiant.

In NY it's easy. We're atheist too but that doesn't make a difference. They don't ask. It's really fill in form n pay fee.

You get a piece of paper from the government and then sign it. It isn't different if you are religious. You might check a different box but the process is the same.

Nah, I got married 12 years ago. It was super simple and didn't take months.

Where do you live? It sounds like you aren't in the USA.

In many states, you can go to the court house, apply for a marriage license, then go right to a judge, who will marry you right now.
