My fiancè said this?

My fiancè and I are getting married in 6 months and the dates are booked. When discussing wedding arrangements, he told me there are 2 important milestones for him in the month we're to be wed. One is his cousin's birthday party, the other is our marriage.

I feel completely lost with this, both have vastly different priorities (yeah cousin's party is important, but really? Compared to our marriage?) Idek what to say, so I just ended the chat early- it's not the first time he's said this.

Girl, I would be so pissed if I were you! Comparing your wedding, the biggest commitment of your lives, to some dumb cousin's BIRTHDAY party is beyond disrespectful. A few thoughts:

- Red flag that he's prioritizing partying over the marriage. Not a good sign sis.

- How you gonna tell your fiancée her OWN WEDDING isn't the number one priority? The audacity.

- You bent over backwards planning everything and he can't even pretend to give a crap. Rude AF.

- I'd be having a come-to-Jesus talk right quick. No more half-assing this from him.

- Going forward, watch that he steps up as a partner and doesn't keep downplaying your relationship.

You deserve someone who's excited as hell to marry you! Don't settle for this lame behavior so close to the wedding date. Put him in check cause this little boy ain't doing it right. You're about to be a WIFE, sis! Act like it.

He is just reminding you that there are two things that month. Yes, your wedding is important, but so is his cousin's birthday to him. Don't miss it.

You do know that a wedding is all about the bride. The groom is just along for the ride.

I personally don’t see anything wrong with it. His family is probably really big on celebrations so he’s hyped up to celebrate his cousin’s birthday. Unless he specifically said that he’s looking more forward to the birthday rather than your wedding day then I think he’s all good.

People can be excited for multiple events at the same time, so just bcs he expressed excitement for his cousin’s birthday, it doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s trying to down play your wedding. He did also say that your wedding is an important milestone, so I’m sure he’s looking forward to marrying you!

I mean yeah most men aren’t as super into planning a wedding as the woman is. I think it’s completely normal. There’s so much pressure into planning a wedding, I’d probably find my family’s birthday coming up more fun also

I'd worry less about this. It's not that he doesn't care, it's just that he has different priorities and attachments than you. If you really think it's important, talk it through with him respectfully, just understand that he isn't necessarily being selfish or malicious, and framing him as such could be really insulting if he was acting with good intentions.

Typical woman getting hung up on every word. He's just family oriented and is excited about his cousins bday. He didn't say he was looking forward to the party more than your wedding. Drop it.
