Men have one dick. Women have one vagina. In the bedroom, men can only technically mate with one girl. And girls can only technically mate with one guy. Sure you could do other stuff, but the reproductive organ is only meant for one.

Men and women are also born at approximately the same rate in the world. Biology has a good way of telling us what should be considered normal. If it was biologically normal for one guy to mate with lots of females, there would be a higher percentage of women than men to account for that. But there aren't.

Polygamy is nonsense and it doesn't resonate with the human soul. I have a strong belief that anyone that's into polygamy will likely regret not settling with one person later on in life.

It is why women are so jealous of other women is because it leads back to a time where men married many wives. The women in the marriages many times had to fight for a man’s love and that passes down through genetic memory. It is also why many women are more inclined to be into the same sex or have curiosities. Because a lot of things would happen behind closed doors in polyamorous relationships.

Real polygamy, let's say 2 women and 1 man, including real love is not easy at all and requires a high degree of mental maturity, not to forget the financial aspect. If the ladies only want children and a place of their own to live, that may work well, the more that taking care of the children may allow more flexibility.

Another possible and helpful condition could be for the ladies to have feelings for each other's female charms as well as for their husband's. This setting would be what I'd appreciate if ever I had to face such a trio configuration. Let's not forget that in life things often just happen: meeting a girl, falling in love, meeting a second one and falling as well in love, and the two girls loving each other and the guy. Probably more a figment of imagination, but nevertheless, who knows...

Let's face it in general that the best for a succesful household remains one man and one woman, this being said without taking at all into account any religious or legal point of view.

Polygamy would be good for the human race because it would allow the top 10 to 20 percent of men (the men with the best genes) to mate with all the women. Also, men without a wife and children of their own would be much more likely to burn down a society with these rules than volunteer to be the so-called Alpha's garbage man or plumber. I know someone who wants to legalize polygamy. He claims it’s the natural form of marriage ordained by god. He also thinks his thirteen year old niece is old enough to promulgate gods kingdom and should be given to him in marriage.

Fantasy wise it be great, but reality may be a complete nightmare, it's hard enough to please one wife and keep her happy let alone 4. This may be less of a problem in countries where women are taught to be submissive to their husband and never go against him. But is that really a mutual marriage? In religions and countries that allow it treat women as property and often get forced into the marriage by their parents.

That's probably how it was in the caveman days because men were constantly being killed defending their tribe, hunting for/around dangerous predators, and fighting with other men for "mating access." I don't know about 4-1, but I've read studies saying only 20% of men's DNA used to carry on. The context was more of an alpha/other situation, but I think it was more to do with a survivor/dead cavemen situation. But obviously it could be both.
