You are already married. I hope that this is a purely hypothetical question and not an issue that has arisen in your marriage.
As I am driving home from work at the end of the day, I want to know that my wife is waiting for me, and not spending the night with someone else. I want to know that she thinks of only me when she wants attention or affection, and I want to know that I am the only one who spends time pleasing her in body and spirit. I don't want to think that I am one of the important guys in her life; I want to know that no one else is even close to being as important as I am for her.
I don't care if that is selfish, old-fashioned, nor progresssive. I just want to know that my wife and I will be together for as long as we both shall live.
The ideal relationship is polyandry, where one woman has multiple husbands. So I'd prefer a committed relationship where she only has sex with us.
But if that's not possible, for example if we can't find other men willing to commit to such a relationship, then I'd be ok with the marriage being open for her. Women have a natural desire to be shared by multiple men, so monogamy can never be fully satisfying to them.
I'd never have sex with another woman, though. No relationship should be open for the man. It would be disgusting for a woman to have to share a man with another woman.
Thinking on it, I was always raised to think about a all-white wedding and being a one man woman when I grow up, but then I saw how people act in their marriage and I wonder. I know it's early, but I can't imagine looking at only one boy and desiring only him. And I know for sure they might say that but it's not how they really feel. The boys I'm attracted to are bad boys and fast. Maybe there's a reason for that. People say it will wear off in marriage but maybe that just means the marriage is wearing you down.
I think that's a healthy attitude.
Humans are evolved to live in polyandry, where one woman has multiple husbands. We're simply not made for monogamy. So being tied to just one man is unnatural for a woman - she needs to be shared by multiple men to be emotionally and sexually fulfilled.
Dear you are only 14 y. o... at this age everything feel another than older. There are nothing good to have a lot of partners...
@QuineJessica It's very good to have multiple partners for a woman. She's evolved to have multiple men.
@AnonAndrew Actually, that is not true. In evolutionary terms, the male has evolved to have multiple mates while the female wants just one. The reasons for this are evolutionary and biological.
The male has multiple sperm and can impregnate many females. His biological need is to spread is DNA in competition with other males. Hence, the polygamous side of male character and its' roots in evolutionary biology.
By contrast, the female can normally carry only one child at a time. Evolution made her to carry one child and to feed - think breast feeding - that child after its' birth. Plus, because that need to feed and care for the child, the female needs a male to protect her from rival males.
Thus, in nature, evolutionary biology has made it that women are naturally monogamous and males polygamous. It is only with the advent of technology and culture that restrictions on that nature have evolved into place.
I know a woman who is dating a married man. The married man's wife has a boyfriend. All four of them went to the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota.

I tried hard not to laugh. I don't judge things that don't affect me, but I want to write the screenplay to this story. I want Steve Martin in it, because this kind of happened in LA Story. It was so funny.

Mark was spot on.

No I would be heading to divorce court , there would be no reason to be married to someone that didn’t want a commitment and loyalty with you period. If I wanted to fool around , I would just stay single. When I enter a relationship I commit 100 percent to her
If my partner wanted an open marriage, I'd consider it. So far, that's never happened, and I doubt it ever will.
It’s a absolutely terrible idea that will make everyone miserable in the end. No
I would have an open marriage, although I’m not sure 100% open would work for my wife. She’s fine with me having sex with other women sometimes, but almost always with her participation or at least watching if she doesn’t join in. I’ve suggested that she should think about sex with another guy as well, but we tried it once and she was disappointed with it/him. We might do it again, and she’s open to a foursome with a couple we both are attracted to. To indiscriminately have sex outside our marriage probably doesn’t work for us.
Not my cup of tea.
I like enjoy the warmth that comes with shared exclusivity.
The idea that what I have with a person is ours and no one else’s.
An open marriage would kill the whole thing.
I spend my life single trying to stand out and find a partner why would I want to keep on standing out and competing with other men for the affection of my own wife?
And yes. Sex is affection. I don’t buy the whole “scratching an itch” or “it means nothing”
And Im more than happy to put that theory to the test with any man who thinks open marriage is a good idea: send your wife over to me. We’ll see just how transactional things remain…
No why would I marry a person that wants to whore around? That is so stupid to claim someone who doesn't want to be claimed. I would never share since I am way too possessive for that to ever happen plus I have no want or need to be used for men as a sex toy.
Full agree 💯
I've never had an open marriage , but one of the most successful marriages I ever saw was open , those guys were great together and awesome apart and man they knew how to live. The bottom line is , particularly if you are young , monogamy just does not work , this has been shown time and time again. So , I have participated on the fringe of open marriages , but never been part of the married couple.
Its a very good idea , and a good way to make things genuinely work , absolutely.
Whether a marriage or long term relationship would be open depends largely on the involved partner. I'm open to both, with a general preference for only "open" on special occasions. Nevertheless the partner's tastes and desires are to be taken into account.
Don't think it's for me. If I wanted to play around I start single, and if I commit I give my 100% to that one person and I expect the same in return. But feelings are unpredictable so never say never
Nope. All my relationships have been monogamous.
And, when it comes to marriage, my wife and I are loyal.
I would never share a partner.
Hell no. Those things always end in divorce, arguments, complicated pregnancy situations etc. You are setting yourself up for a nightmare if you go into a polly or open relationship.
Why when you order a Coke, they ask “Is Pepsi okay?”.
No, it is not.
That reminds me of a little scene in Basic Instinct... ;-)

@DryGermanGuy lmao
It's complicated enough to have a decent relationship between TWO people. Adding another means all kinds of trouble. Heavens.
Agree with you 100%
Absolutely not. There's no such thing as an "open marriage" anyway. It's a contradiction. Marriage is exclusive.
No, I would split up with that person if I was interested in another.
at least it is without deception...
no, no exceptions, if she wants and open relationship, she should remain single.
Two guys? The other would have to be something special.
No , I don’t even want a marriage never mind one that’s open.
F*** no! That kind of defeats the meaning of "marriage".
Yes. Monogamy is an unnatural artificial recent fiction. It's entirely in opposition to our nature.
No, I would not consider it and would divorce if she insisted upon it.
No. I don’t share, at least not in that way.
Hell no. I get mad just because my husband has a female co worker.
My husband and I are actually now considering a form of one
For OPEN MARRIAGE? No.
Try different question (s).
Absolutely not. If the idea was even mentioned I’m out, no point discussing anything
Naaah. I'd prefer having multiple wives instead of open marriage.
No. Open marriages are great for women, and a nightmare for men.
If you want to go into polyamory you should do so in a structured way and not some willy nilly flim flam way. So no, no open marriages for me.
No lol now I would have a couple swap with another couple just for fun once a blue moon
What would be the point of getting married if you want an open marriage?
Definitely not
Be with girls Hermaphradites and transvestites only morphing into others
