Do woman really expect a huge diamond for her engagement ring?

I have a little simple wedding set that was 100 bucks. But I'm not really gonna be pissy about having a huge diamond. It's nothing but coal anyways.

It's both a personal choice and a expectation about their lives. It comes from life experience and the very real keeping up with the Joneses type of mentality. Diamonds value is almost 100% marketing. Diamonds are not rare can be artificially created. They are in every store. The message that some are better than others. Comes mostly from a era when they were much harder to obtain and impossible to create. My grandfather was a stone cutter. The skills of those artisan and the marketing of the world diamond market has made them a social status symbol. If social status is important to you it makes it valuable to you. We all have this. Some people want the best house the best car the best phone. I am glad it makes no sense to you. But it is the human thought process that drives people to certain non-essential material things.

Some do, it's getting less common but hey one of my clients gave his wife a £1,000,000 diamond

For me I wasn't demanding a big one but mine just popped out to me he ended up pay $7000 for it but I was looking under that but the ring spoke to me lol

I find lot of other gems much more interesting, opals, emeralds, turquoise or even green blue amber.
