No, and anyone that believes that it is, is straight up delusional. by the way the engagement ring was not a thing prior to the 1920's. It was just not common or really ever done. It was only after the diamond companies got together and started making advertisements that basically shamed men into buying engagement rings, did it become a thing.. Why would you want a piece of metal with a rock on it to be the symbol of love? That screams stupidity. It suggests that your love is based on shallow materialistic things, not real feelings for each other.
If it were all about size, you'd have a lot more women being proposed to with Ring Pops. Even more if they still make those. Not only is it huge, it's tasty, too! And you can change which one you wear to match your outfits MUCH more cheaply. Come to think of it, you could just melt down Jolly Ranchers and buy a mold, and make an engagement ring with a stone so large you can barely lift it!
I may have to remember this...
Honestly if in the future a guy gave me a huge diamond ring, I would exchange it for something smaller. I would hate to have a big huge ring sticking out all of the time. My promise ring is a simple pearl, and it drives me crazy because the pearl is a decent size. So honestly, I don't think it matters diamond size, and I definitely don't think it has anything to do with love.
@anon73997 Well I'd just make sure that the guy wouldn't get me that kind of ring in the first place, or use the diamond in a different lower set band.
Hell no. If the girl is mad or critical about the size she was GIVEN, then good luck.
It does however go both ways. As long as the guy genuinely got you the size and diamond that he thought was best in their situation, then the girl has no right to be nothing but grateful.

Yes and no. For example a wealthy man gets her a cracker jack ring that could show a lack of love. Or a poor man goes extra and really spends a lot when the woman has no expectation of such a ring it could show how much he is committed to her. Or there are men who dont want to do rings at all or want non wedding style rings, i question their desire to be married at all. Why would you purposely not want to appear married? Wtf.
Generally i wouldn't read too much into it though short of what i mentioned.
Not at all. Engagement rings are a marketing scam created by the DeBeers diamond cartel, and are in no way an investment, particularly if purchased new. Save the money for the down-payment on a home. Go ahead if you are wealthy and the cost is insignificant.
I think it's more a reflection of their salary than anything else. No one should spend more than they can comfortably afford, especially if starting a family is also part of the plan. If someone loves you, the real reflection of that is in their actions, not the things they buy you.
Definitely not he might be the best guy in the world and totally in love with you but may not be able to afford a huge diamond. It’s how he treats you that is a measure of his love, not a piece of jewellery.
i got the person i love a.70ct E color VVS1 clarity 14k white gold diamond engagement ring two years ago it was an upgrade from the first one i got them which was a.50ct E color VVS1 clarity 14k white gold diamond engagement ring. Both were princess cut and both were GIA certified
And most people on this site don't even know how to shop for diamonds or what to look for as far as inclusions and feathers or abrasions or scratches or any type of nicks on the diamond or in the diamond or about the laser inscribed numbers in the diamond or what type of certifications there are
let alone how much any of this stuff actually costs or where to buy them
or what type of ranking each certification is
i can tell you just by looking at that picture the guy who bought it got swindled and didn't know what he was doing when he bought it. the stone is cloudy really cloudy. most likely an SI1 or an SI2 or possibly an I1 or an I2 and possibly an G-H color or possibly I-J color somewhere within that range. A bigger diamond doesn't always mean it's better especially not to jewelers. Looks like a cushion or really poor emerald shape or radiant or asher shape. Unless i know the actual specs it's hard to tell if he got a good deal on it and what he paid for it to know if he got a good deal or if he got ripped off
look at the top part how cloudy it is and the two huge black specs one on each side and the little bit of cloudiness at the bottom of the diamond. i wouldn't of bought that for anything. just because it's bigger in size doesn't mean it's better. the most that could of gone for was 1000 or at the most 1500 anymore then that would be a waste of money and that's not counting the band he got which looks like a plain 14k band which is usually 400 at minimum which he might of paid 400-600 tops because that's all that band is worth
quick search online showed i was mostly right. it was a cushion and k color and SI1. i was wrong about the price it's about low end 3621 average about 5600 high end 7313 but that's only because of it's size but the specs are horrible. the 14k band i was right about to 14k white gold about. he probably paid 4300 for it.
Nah. I don't think so. But if your love language is expensive gifts then it says a lot.
Diamond rings are overrated! I would head in the direction of meteorite rings - give her a piece of the stars. 🌠
Nope, I got my first ex-girlfriend a cheap engagement ring, but it's not the price or size of it's the ring it's the love for each other that there is, I had little money to come and go by but at one time I loved her
Nah. Only how much they value materialistic goods, especially if the woman had a say in it or comments on it themselves lots.
Nope, its the indication of the size of the guy's wallet
No, not at all. It's about what the person can afford.
I would look more into whether the guy knows what your style is.
no. the larger the ring, the larger the sucker
https://www.youtube.com/embed/N5kWu1ifBGUNo. The engagement ring I like doesn't even have a diamond. I'd be super happy if that's the one by boyfriend gets me. I don't even care
I don't think it is a criteria, any kind of ring is sentiment and mark of engagement.
By the way above ring so cute and who he chose you the person is tender heart.
Have a prosperous future.
Normally that only reflects on how big a Gold Digger the woman is.
Engagement rings reflect the type of relationship. Be it curb appeal, creative or realistic.
No, it is an indication of how much money the groom has. Many couple decide to spent the money on other things.
In that case, I know I shall never get married; for, not earning as much money as Elon Musk or the Queen of England, I cannot afford to buy a large, 24 carat diamond ring.
No, it's a reflection of the size of the guy's bank account.
It is a reflection of how foolish and wasteful they are.
No.
It's a reflection of how much can one afford.
Or sometimes, ego.
No you can get very high quality diamonds that are small and very large low quality showy ones. How you feel about each other should outweigh the ring.
It is not the size , but clarity and color. You could get a 6 CT diamond and it could be worth less than a 1/2 CT diamond.
Of course not. And would stay far away from anyone that thought this way.
If he let you pick it out and then bought it for you then yes, other wise nope...
It just reflects the amount of money the person has
No but the expectation women have is a reflection of how shallow they are
No, it reflects the size of their bank account.
only if you are shallow
More likely a sign of wealth tbh
it doesn't matter to me.
yeah, money buys love
It's probably a better reflection of their wealth.
I don't don't
Only to materialistic females and gold diggers.
No I don't
Looks good congratulations
not at all
"Only in America."
