What are your opinions on getting married young? How would you define marriage?

I’m just curious as to what it’d be like being married young versus waiting a certain time. I’m not really thinking about getting married ASAP, I just heard from some people that I shouldn’t get married young (also because of a song I heard “So Young” - The Ronettes). Obviously, marriage should come when both are ready and in a stable position in life, but what would be some merits and drawbacks? Also, what would be an appropriate age range for you? You could even define what marriage is for you because I have little knowledge of it. Just have fun with this question <3

I thought about this a lot when I was your age (not saying that you are too though) and it took me some time to realize the thought was only appealing to me in a vacuum, with everything being a perfect way. But marriage isn't perfect, everything but it. It takes lots of dedication and patience because it isn't all about you anymore. That's why I came to the conclusion, getting married young isn't smart. It's a romantic idea, for sure, but you change so much in such a short span of time, and if you're planning on staying with your spouse for life like in your vows, you risk the high chance of being stuck in a loveless marriage in a few years. Of course there are always outliers. And nothing is ever black and white. It works for some. But I've noticed the marriages that happen early tend to be the most depressing to look at when they're much older. I personally, am gonna wait as long as I reasonably can. That's a big decision that I don't want to fuck up!

We were 18 and 19 when we got married, and we are glad that we got married young. I am all for marrying as soon as you are responsible and capable enough to do so. Unfortunately, many people today are still not responsible or capable enough even into their 30s.

My best advice for you is regardless of when or if you get married, the important thing is to never have casual relations/intimacy, wait until you are fairly sure the person you are with is the one you'd like to spend your life with, make sure you have compatible morals and compatible long term life goals, and whatever you do, DO NOT take relationship advice from women or teachers because many of them purposely mislead and give bad advice because they are jealous that someone might make better decisions than they did in life.

Also, live together for a year FIRST before getting married because no matter how long you date someone, you won't truly know them until after you live together.

I'm in favor of people marrying young. You're not as set in your ways and ought to find it easier to make the necessary sacrifices and life decisions that marriage requires. When you die, no one is going to care where you traveled, how many or what kind of parties you went to, how you "lived it up" or whatever other nonsense people use to justify delaying marriage. Your family, however, will care about how you loved them.

Number one what’s meant to be is meant to be what's right for one person isn’t necessarily what's right for everyone. Some people marry young to live happily ever after. If you’re with someone long term that you just know in your heart is right. Why waste time? I mean any marriage could fail even if you’re together 10 years and marry later in life.

However, many people rush marriage it’s better to marry later in life then marry someone whose not the right one. I don’t think MOST people have nefarious intentions but they get too carried away in emotions that both of them loose track and find out later they’re not wanting the same things, have different beliefs, or are otherwise not compatible with one another.

Other times it is narcissistic at best and someone has suckered someone in that they think really loves them. But really they are marrying because of other reasons. Someone can marry someone they don’t genuinely love simply because they see everyone else getting married, want kids, want financial incentives, and for social status reasons.

A LOT of marriages that you see especially the ones they seem perfect you’ll see those marriages fail later down the road. You’ll see many of your young friends you once envied go through some nasty divorces.

It's stupid to get married before the age of 28-30. I'll tell you why...

Neurologically human beings aren't fully formed till we're 25. That's a scientific fact. So you're dating and discovering and doing whatever you're doing till 25, fine. *I* started my work and family life VERY early and had my life sorted by the time I was 23, however my guy... didn't. And he ended up coasting on the tailcoats of his own confusion while continuing to sow his wild oats (while we were married), leaving me to do all the heavy lifting both at home and in the workplace, which was overwhelming but I managed... till I discovered all his flings... and his financial scamming... and his tendency to hide or play possum with things he was messing up... So I stopped what I was doing when we hit a particularly deplorable point in his little game. It was all just a game for him bc he was just trying to COPE with life... He didn't have the full time needed to completely know and form himself... (And honestly, nor had I... There was NO reason I should have been a young mom other than the fact that I was stupid enough to trust my new hubby could use a rubber properly... which he didn't... BOOM, honeymoon baby.) My original plan was ok, marry young but wait three years to have a baby so we know it's what we wanted. But he wanted a baby trap bc (as everyone around me suspected) he didn't want to lose me, but he didn't know himself enough to find himself.

What I'm saying... is TAKE THE TIME TO FIND YOURSELF before you latch on to someone FOR LIFE. Marriage is SUPPOSED to be a for-life kind of deal. (1) Know yourself VERY well, (2) allow yourself time to form (in work and in life), and (3) choose wisely.

to me marriage is no different than committed relationship's i definitely look at marriage from a religious perspective i'm Gnostic Christian so for those of us that believe in God from a Quantum Physic's perspective we feel like it's very disrespectful to God to give our Government more Authority over our marriage than God and although i'm Heterosexual myself i feel like whether your gettin married based on bein LGBTQ or Straight if ya get legally married your makin your marriage a contract which is definitely a Bad business deal

If you believe you have found the right one and your career is fine then marry soon, because the moments of life is 20s. if you can grow, enjoy, spend earlier phases of life with your partner then you will develop a very deep connection with your partner subconsciously.

I wasn't married until I was 21, but that seemed like a perfect time for me. There isn't a single “right” age to get married, as everyone's maturity, stability, and life goals are different.

There are potential pros and cons to getting married young, but to me the risks are outweighed by the benefits. When you are young, you are not fully developed and set in your ways, so you grow and learn together, and it's easier to become one, so to speak. We got married when she was 23 and I was 24. It's been great for us and I feel like we have a stronger bond because of it.

I got married when I was 25. I guess by todays standards I was considered young. I think it was a good age. However, we had kids right away. We had 3 kids in 3 years and 3 months. That was the thing that was a little overwhelming.

I'd say get a backpack and travel. Living life is so much more important than settling down. You can do that in 10 years. Get out there you'll be better parents for it.

Don't Marry too young or too late.

Asked this question to my psychology professors. They said the ideal age range is 25-35. Not too immature, not too rigid. They personally got married around 26

Speaking as a guy I think a guy should marry before 25. And if he's not married before 25 he should either take his time, or possibly not marry at all. Because any woman worth dating will be under 25. After 25 you'll be getting leftovers.
