Literally as far as love/attachment goes.

A word of advice to both parties. Both the friend as the soon-to-be-married friend:
"Don't take the decision TOO personal."

If the friend doesn't attend, and the soon-to-be-married-friend gets annoyed, that means he/she isn't a good friend by EXPECTING such an effort.
If the friend doesn't attend, don't let him/her feel guilty either. Sometimes literally such a choice (which costs a lot of money for travel) is less worthy than the long-lasting-friendship afterwards.

Remember. Wedding is only 1 day.
Friendship and marriage is something afterwards that lasts the rest of your life.

Focus on your friendships. Not on their behaviour on 1 single wedding day.

    ;)

Has to do with three things: How much time will it take to get there and back, how much will it cost to get and stay there (hotel, flight) and most importantly, how close are you to the relative.

If it takes too much time, costs too much money and you aren't that close, you've got your answer. If you have plenty of lead time to save up vacation and money to make the trip and you really want to go, you ALSO have your answer.

So weigh the factors and you'll have your answer.

People like to anchor their decisions in norms for such questions, but really, it all depends on how valuable going to the wedding is to you personally versus how much of an inconvenience and financial drain it is to travel there, and I'd expect that value would be vastly different from person to person (and maybe also from friend to friend or relative to relative) if they actually asked themselves these questions instead of defaulting to norms.

The moon for sure. It's your decision. If someone is having a wedding far from you, you don't have to attend. Just decline. Write a note. Send a gift if you want.

Depends on if you can afford to or not. I’d go wherever if I could afford to.

I haven't grown up in circles where marriage was something important so it's really hard for me to relate to weddings and marriages. I understand it's something important for some people though, from a distance I can understand

Interesting. I don't particularly care for a wedding. I'm more interested in the marriage and having that commitment with someone. I grew up around a lot of religious people so my views stem from that experience

Ironically I always approached relationships with commitment in mind, just not marriage

I don’t think distance is relevant here. It all depends on if you can afford to go.

If its too close person in relationship, then too far might be close

If its not really close person , it may be too far

I don't know if it made sense lol
