im a healthy person over all. My spouse is 2 years younger than me. we never thought about kids when we got together. he always have liked children but he still married me. but im afraid he might leave me for a younger woman for children.

i do want kids to be happy but i dont want to have children to keep him in my life just cause i feel threatened by age.

over all me having kids goes hand in hand and he was just neutral when he married me.

My mom had me at 45. And apparently it was a pretty easy pregnancy. She said she had a great team of doctors, nutritionists, and a doula, which helped significantly.

Of course, genetics play a big part. And 50 is typically the age women enter menopause... so you may not be as fertile as you were in your 20s. I would consult with your doctor :)

Kids it the hardest and most rewarding thing you will ever do. Trust me I know. I had a boy and 18 months later identical twin girls. My girls were given a 20% chance to live and spent 3 months in ICU. The stress took a significant toll on my physical and mental health. We had nannies coming constantly to and from the house and my wife and I came really close to divorce - like razors edge close. Boat loads of therapy later...

Here's the thing - if you asked me would I do it again I would say absolutely. I have learned more about myself in the last 6 years than I have over my entire life. I am a better man for it and not just for my family - for the world around me and all the people in my life.

You think about your friends and family and if there was anyone you would give your life for you would probably have to think about it but with my kids I would give my life without question or consideration the only reason I wouldn't want to would be because it would mean I wouldn't get to see them again.

The thing that I am most grateful for is my children above all else.

Kids won't make you happy, you have to do that for yourself. What they will give you is perspective and an opportunity to grow and change as a person. An opportunity to be a better you. I would highly recommend seeing a counselor. Better to do it now rather than when your changing diapers.

I may be way off here but , I don’t get the impression that the YOU actually want children , more than it’s for your husband and glue for your relationship. This , if true might be the some poor reasons to have a child.

Putting that aside because clearly I may be way off , the way I understand it through being close to people choosing to attempt to have children late in life there is some cold hard negatives that perhaps you need to consider.

Fertility i am told , drops off a cliff in our 40’s , so much so that by mid 40’s chances of conception can be dramatically negatively impacted. Additionally the risk of complications and miscarriage also increases

Knowing women that have lost children due to miscarriage I posed witness to the emotional and mental devastation as well as the impact on the relationship itself.

Obviously I’d hope that you have every chance of a full term pregnancy and a healthy child but there is no point sugar coating it , as we get older medical records tell that story far too often.

Course there’s always IVF and adoption but before any of that I’d want to 100% sure I wanted kids … and if that is true , and the age range on your account is correct ? , then why wait? .. sure this only makes it harder with even more risk. ?

that's a question for your gyno cause that's not the same for every woman. for some women this isn't a problem. some women are already past menopause at that point. but what you should definitely consider is the elevated risk for certain birth defects and complications. not saying you can't do it. just saying be aware of risks you're taking.

I didn't wamt later than 35. So I did not found a partner. Now I am too old. My life is not flexible enough. My nerves, the stress.

How old will you be when your child is around 20? Is it nice to hear others whisper "Look, he/she is with the grandparents here"? How flexible will your mind be to understand your teenager kid? You never know how the child will grow. So I would say it is egoistic. Not for the child's health.
