- Takes spiritual and material leadership of his family
- Is active and decisive
- Rightly commands his wife's respect and does not allow her to usurp or challenge him
- Provides discipline and structure for his children
- Does what he must (within legal, moral, and ethical bounds, that is) to care for his family
- Only has eyes for his wife
- Is present and active in his children's lives
