To symbolise their transition from cat lady to wifey, many brides toss their cat over their shoulder at weddings to be caught by her bridesmaids. The lucky bridesmaid who catches the cat gets to keep the little bundle of fun until she gets herself a man of her own.
However, some people say it's cruel because cats keep changing owners, many of whom are stingy with the Dreamies.
So thoughts, is it time to stop tossing cats at weddings and use flowers like they do in America?

Locally cats are a leading cause of hospital admissions and the bride throwing the cat exacerbates this. You and I end up paying for the cat tossing through our taxes that go to hospitals.
What happens if no one catches them? Or everyone lunges at once to catch it, and they all wind up in a pile on top of poor kitty? Sounds like animal cruelty to me. Makes me wonder how they will treat their kids if they have any.
OK. This is a new thing. The only thing cruel about this is that whoever catches the cat may not want to adopt a pet just because they have great hands! Cats usually land on their feet. I don't think this is the best of practices, however. Cat may be traumatized.
As a strong supporter of animal equality, I wonder if this important trace of culture should not be accessible to all pets and livestock.
