Are Cashless Transactions Actually Making You Cashless?

Hello and welcome everyone! It's your boy Hal and I've been seeing several amateur takes on dating and relationships so here's something to slightly change your mood lol (Yes I'm cocky 🤣🤣). This is mainly my personal experience and yours mighy be completely different. If you transact online often, you might relate to it. So let's start the show-

I got my bank account when I was 15 but it's been only a year since I've been using my debit card. I have always been a guy who believes in intellectual spending. I'm not a miser but I don't throw my paper notes in bonfire too. So using a debit card completely changed my way of thinking. I used to spend money carefully but with my debit card, I'd buy anything I'd like and pay online. I somehow got obsessed with it and there were days when I ordered food 20-22 days in a month. And I could see the impact it had on my life. My dad would no longer take us out that often and he'd say "I'm too tired to go anywhere. Just order something." Not only this is a sheer waste of money but also bad for health. Moreover, it isn't as much fun when you are actually in a restaurant having a dinner or something. It lacks the feel.

Earlier, I used to be really picky and sorted the stuff out but while buying something but with the power of transacting online with several e-wallets, I ended up purchasing 6 tshirts in a single day on Amazon which are literally of no use to me rn because it's December and they all are half-sleeved. And again, the feel you get from actually visiting a store is far much amazing than the online one. It actually gives you chance to check whether a particular article suits or not. Yes, you can return goods online too but for some reason, I enjoy the offline shopping more.

I've been thinking about this since a few weeks now and concluded that literally everything has come online, even those things which shouldn't have been over the internet. Now people don't really go out and enjoy their selves

because internet has become our everything.

The main problem with the so-called *cashless transactions* is that you don't have a physical connection to your money. When you open your wallet and regularly count dollar bills, you feel like you can't afford to spend so much. When you pay someone a thousand dollars cash, you feel it. You see the notes passing from your hand to his but with the online transcations, you click on "Send" and *BAM!*. You didn't even realise you spent your hard-earned money in a second. Internet has completely blocked our attachments. Thus, it is really important that you realise the importance of your money and how cashless transactions might be a bane for you.

This would apply better if it was about a *credit* card, a debit card makes a lot of these a non-issue.
The real issues begin when you start spending more money than you actually have.

As for personal preference.
Shopping online is vastly superior to shopping in person, in my opinion.
You might be able to try things on in an actual store, but that comes at the cost of severely limited stock and significantly higher prices than those in online stores.

Personally, I buy everything online, including groceries.
The time investment and the extra charges you incur in physical stores just aren't worth it, in my opinion.
That being said, I always pay cash on delivery, because it works that way here.

That's why I only wanna buy those stuff online that I can't go to buy physically. Maybe it's not available in many stores, maybe it's just a rare product, or even when I'm ordering several books at once because often bookstores may not have the entire list of books that I'm willing to buy.

But it doesn't always have to be limited to that. Buying clothes, food, etc is fine if you do it at times.

Just be responsible with your spending and you should be okay. 😊

the biggest problem with cash is that it's hard to keep up with and a lot of it is wasted. partially due to people not keeping up with money, physically, but because our (at least, the US), the money system is stupid and basically designed for you to lose liquidity. you're basically predesigned to lose money. just in pennies being stray accounts for over a billion dollars. not including the ones in your pants, in couches, in cars, etc. i generally don't carry cash because i will lose more money. pennies, dollars, dimes, quarters. also, because my phone is my wallet and i don't have space to carry currency. the other reason that i like not spending. the other problem is that liquid currency doesn't appreciate. then again, technically, neither does the money in your checking account... either way, i'm neither for or against 1 another. i used to be more liquid in my spending and could see what i was spending. but i still keep spare money just in case. but the convenience and ease of using a card is just easier for me and more accurate.

You're right totally. Many reasons why our GDP is do low in Westrrn world is this consumer world of maritalism. Where we forget that shopping doesn't make us happy. Its the love and community and mom n pop stores closing due to online shopping and big big business like Walmart. We killed the community we kill our people and their lives. Its bigger problem globally then just mear cashless transactions. Marketing companies study behavior and analyze why people can be without cash. Convenience. But convenience as you seen comed with a price. Health, money, family, community, and more so our childrens obesity issue all linked to materialistic behavior and constant need to buy, buy, buy. We need as society to move from materialism to conciousness living. Let me ask you. When was last time you volunteered? Or run a marathon for cancer.

I use only cash. I never had a credit card, a loan or a bank card and i dont use checks.

Guess what I always seem to have cash on hand. Unlike my friends are always broke.

Yes i agree this can happen with us in life. Thank you for sharing

been going on for several years. I buy cell phones and if i don't
like the cell phone i end up buying another one. I also have done
this with computers , so I am making myself a New Years resolution
no more spending money on electronics.

I have had €5 and ₪54 in my wallet for like since September and have spent over €1700 since then.

So I guess yeah, cashless transactions make me cashless.

That being said, I'm like an eagle eye on my financial situation.

I have a really strict budget because I'm a student, stick to it as far as I can (in spite of me having like €3500 ready to use if I have a lack of money) and am perfectly fine with cycling a bit to pay less.

I read a study a while ago where the emotions related to spending don't apply to credit cards the same way as cash. With cash you feel a sort of reluctance to let it go, but with a card that feeling really isn't there because you don't count out the money and hand it over, you just swipe and sign.

After returning something and given cash back, I've been highly likely to give my cash to homeless people in the parking lot. I live in California where homeless people are everywhere. Cash annoys me. I don't even have a place in my wallet for it.

Their sales and marketing research have found out that the average order ticket is a larger amount of money, versus people who order in person.
