+1 yyouv kinda missed the point.
no need to be envious of the material things dear. have u ever considered that a rich person could be alone? have u considered they may be divorced, battling for custody?
even if they did have family, have u considered that a rich person could have a disease silently eating away at them? that they could be 30 and still haven't found love?
my point. yes, material things are great. they are. but i can assure u that nobody, no matter how rich, has a perfect life. we all have our own shit to deal with and rich people are no exception. Christmas is a time where family unites to celebrate a wonderful occasion of giving, sharing and the religious cause [if they believe].00 Reply

+1 yWhy not? who says everyday is Christmas for them? they work hard to gain the money that makes them 'rich' and they need holidays like all others.
and the idea of gifts is symbolic not for one to actually wait to be given something once in a year. It is a symbol of the generosity, care, and value of the family for each other. and the value is only by paying as much attention as to give something to someone, the price of what you give or take does not matter. it only needs to show that you care from the depth of your heart.00 Reply
Well, the meaning of Christmas isn't about getting gifts.

Asker+1 yI guess my word choice for this question wasn't the best lol
I meant for it to solely be about the gifts and how they must run out of ideas to give to their families. Thanks for your input. :)
Asker+1 ythanks again :)
+1 yIt's not about the presents. Fuck material fuck what society makes us buy
It's not about who has money
You are not the Christmas presents under the tree ( you are the thought behind what the present or surprise is :). )
You are not the car you drive
You are not the house you own
It's about the quality time I spend with my family cause we all come together
Rant over00 Reply
Because material things isn't the only important part about Christmas, coming together as a family and for Christians, the birth of Jesus. Yeah they could buy whatever they want during the year, but it's not like they're constantly buying things for others during the year too.

Because most rich people enjoy work and spend a very large proportion of their time concentrating on that. (And that's why they're rich.) Christmas is not just an expense of money. It's an expense of time and effort. So, no, every day is not like Christmas for them.

Asker+1 yI meant that in a way they can buy whatever they want whenever they want. Christmas could be everyday for them if they wanted

Funny you should mention about time. I deal with senior people at a major corporation and at 1:30pm today the emails stopped, completely. I thought the mail server was down as i get at least one message per minute on average. At 4pm a message came in and was simply a Christmas greeting. Simply unheard of at my firm.
Christmas is about helping others, it's the season of giving. Just because someone is rich doesn't necessarily mean they are selfish ass hats. I grew up fairly average, low-middle class-ish, and went to school with a bunch of rich pricks. During the holidays though, everyone went out of their way to bring in food donations, new clothes to give the homeless, and money for charities. It was really nice to see how much people care deep down.
10 ReplyMoney does not buy happiness. Rich people get sick, have to face social disgrace, deal with unpleasant people and when you are rich you adapt to being wealthy and it ceases to bring you happiness. True wealth is the ability desire and act of helping others.
10 Replyi'm rich and Christmas is never an everyday thing yeah i can treat myself once in a while but i dont go all out and buy everything i want in one go i get stuff over time and save most of my money and Christmas is my favorite time of the year purely for the fact i get to see all of my family.

Asker+1 yI'm glad someone who's rich caught this question. Interesting perspective. That's awesome for you! thanks for answering!
Christmas isn't about presents. It's about family and friends and love and being together. Last time I checked, rich people are allowed to do that. by the way, don't be jealous of the rich. Work hard, get a good education and make your own money.

Asker+1 ywho... said... I was... jealous? lol
you must've really thought you could get a feel for who I am from that mediocre description up there.
Asker+1 yI'm sorry you feel that way.
My wife and i dont do gifts at all anymore for most holidays ( last year we bought 400 pounds of food for a food bank since we werent getting gifts). We get what we want when we want and we buy things for each other when we want and dont wait for a special day. It wasn't always like this of course. But, we celebrate Christmas with our favorite drinks, homemade treats and the love of our family. Its still important, especially given the meaning to us as we are Catholic.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yThey just mindlessly buy more crap and consume more, it's a fallacy that they are all working their fingers to the bone for what they have and that it's an opportunity to spend time with family and let the good times roll. Some do that, others don't, I see a fairly even split. It's just the done thing and celebrating an occasion. Compared to those less well off, it is indeed Christmas every day.

Gifts are more about sentimental value & emotional relevance, than cost (the way gifts should be)10 Reply

Because Christmas is about more than just the gifts? You're pretty narrow-minded.

Asker+1 ysure it does but they still buy gifts right? don't you think they run out of gift ideas?

Nope. Maybe, I don't know, I'm not rich.
+1 yYeah, there's a couple that buy stuff at the store I work at.
They then tell the cashier to hand em' to whomever wants them.00 ReplyChristmas is about the birth of Jesus. They possibly have wealth because they better understand his teachings and benifit by it.
