Who Celebrates Christmas and Who Doesn’t?

I'm obliged to but I don't like it and never found it a happy time.
Really, they have stupid adverts, creating the biggest hype, for two months in advance. For one day, where you're sat with family you're desperately trying to avoid for the year, but have no choice to over Christmas. And you just generally overeat, have awkward and contrived conversation. Every aspect of Christmas is over-rated.
I could tolerate a toned down affair. If I was supreme leader, I would ban any Christmas adverts or music more than two weeks before Christmas. With the most heinous and sadistic of punishments for those who transgress!
It just seems like it creates a lot of stress to. Like I've never been able to fathom what to buy for other people. But I also kind of think people know themselves better than anyone can know and choose for them.
But yes, it just creates a lot of pressure and comparison. It's a hard time to be alone.
When I was younger I hated everything Christmas. The whole magical appeal felt shallow to me.
But as i get older and older I am beginning to realize that Christmas isn't about santa Claus or religion or the infernal music.
It's about the things that is worth it all in life, family.
I've been living alone in a different country for 3 years now and Christmas time is the one time of year where I feel like my life is incomplete and that I sacrificed my family to chase a career
I mean, I'm not Christian, nor do I personally celebrate Christmas, but my family does. In the end, I kinda participate in the exchanging of gifts. Neither my mum, dad, nor sister are Christians. In fact, my mum is actually Jewish. We just do it for the "spend time with family and give gifts" aspect.
Umm... no. There is only one God in Christianity: the Almighty God. The Almighty God is comprised of the father, the son, and the holy spirit/ghost. Jesus is just God in a human for essentially... His incarnate, if you will. Either way, Christmas is no longer that much of a Christian holiday anymore, especially because of how commoditised it has become.
I have never celebrated it and never will. The only good thing, it is just one day.
I also laugh at how quickly people lose any Christmas spirit they might have the second it is over with.

As I get older I see how important traditions can be. We have the traditional Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. My grandmother always did it when I was little and after she died my Aunt used to do it. Now that she is gone my wife wanted to continue the tradition.
we do, in our family... but it's not about the "Christmas hype" per se...
it is just part of our tradition, and our genuine habits of gathering and having lots of food with the relatives too, not just the core of the family
to us, it's always been a great excuse to gather and actually have a great time with one another... "no excuses"
We've always celebrated Christmas and we enjoy it. 🎄🍪
My family, friends and me, we do!
I can't wait!
I love the entire Christmas season!💕
Yes and no. I celebrate Christmas inside my house because celebrating it anywhere else would require giving/receiving gifts. Once someone gives you a gift, you’re now in the annoying predicament of finding them a gift in return - no thanks. One of my former coworkers used to tell everyone she was a Jehova’s Witness to avoid this hassle.
I celebrate it. Its meant to be about family, religion and warm happy feelings. If all you see out of it is buying gifts and spending money that’s a bit sad. It can also help ground children and give them an anchor point in life that helps them when life becomes unbearable. Young or old, people think of Christmas as a special and wonderful time of year. Its what you make of it though. At least put together some Christmas cookies and bake them with the kids.
I don't celebrate it because I am a Muslim.
But I'd still like to know where did celebrating Christmas came to being? Is it mentioned to celebrate it in the old or the new testament?
Then how did it came to being? I did hear about it having something related to the pagans. Funny thing is that I have seen 'Muslims' hype it more than Christians at times. Same with new years. Just if people could read and understand the scriptures.. Smh..
I do. It was a tradition when my parents were alive. In truth, other than the gifts and decorations and religious aspect, it is just like lots of other times during the year when I have all my closest friends over to celebrate life.
Christmas is about the Lord Jesus Christ, not Santa clause
You sound like an awful parent. I feel bad for your kids.
How so? My kids don’t know anything different. It’s not like I’m depriving them of something that’s a necessary part of their life. They know Santa Claus isn’t real, and they get new toys and clothes outside of the holidays. Christmas is just something I don’t care to make a big deal about.
You’re projecting your misery as a person on their childhood.
My first response would be Christian people 😊
I enjoy but I week off from School.
Christmas lost the magic for me in 1995.
