No Gift from my Boyfriend for Christmas...

I've been seeing this guy exclusively and regularly for 9 months. He is out of town right now for the holidays, and will be back on Thursday. I thought we were going to celebrate Christmas before he left last week, but we didn't. When I asked him on the phone when we were celebrating for Christmas, he said "oh I didn't think you really wanted to." I said, "aren't we exchanging gifts?" And he didn't say a word. I am shocked! I don't think he got me anything! And I spent weeks picking out the right gift for him. I don't know what to do. I think I'll give him his gift (it isn't really returnable), and then if he really didn't get me anything, I'll just let him feel bad. He's been stingy before, but if he really didn't think to get me anything (not even a card) for Christmas, I'm ready to break up with him. He makes good income and I know he spent a small fortune on his daughter's gift. Am I being unreasonable?

Thursday I gave him his present. He said he went to the store to get mine but they were out of (whatever he was going to get). I didn't say anything like "it's okay." I just nodded my head. I've seen him twice since and still no gift or mention of it.

If Thursday comes and he in fact got you nothing for Christmas then yeah id say break up with him - but right as of this moment id do nothing. He may have said what he said because he wants to surprise you? It could be.

Wow that sounds really bad. But what I say is that to me you are sounding a little too greedy. 9 months is a long time but not long enough. Men are pretty stupid and he probably did forget to get you a gift but give him time he will give you a gift.
