Would you assume this was a gas or non-gas purchase from a gas station?

Place - Speedway

Cost - nearly $57.00 with close to 1140 rewards points earned.

You usually do not get many points for gas. Example would be you pay around $45.00 for gas and then only earn a little over 100 points.

Speedway Rewards gives 10 points per gallon of gas bought and 20 points per dollar spent on merchandise.

So would you assume a nearly $57.00 with almost 1200 points earned was merchandise or gas? And if it wasn't gas, how would you spend that much money at Speedway and earn that many points without buying gas?

And if it was gas, how could someone get THAT many rewards points on GAS when usually you only average 100-120 points on a gas purchase?

Bonus - you did not cash in any rewards points or anything.

It doesn't make any sense, just say you bought $57 worth of junk shit at speedway, they're going to turn around and give you $12 back? But I do agree with you that they don't give shit for points on gasoline

I will be straight about my asking. I was wondering if someone either has a "closet significant other" they're hiding or if they're perhaps drinking or something again. When I seen almost $57 with nearly 1200 points... I assumed that was not a second gas purchase for another person simply because of the massive amount of points earned. Roughly $57.00 in gas is not all that much with today's prices anyhow. And with how sh*t their rewards system is, I truly fail to see how that would possibly lead to another GAS purchase. I assume it was merchandise. The question is wtf was bought at Speedway for almost $57? Smh...

I mean gas on average around here is $4.40 per gallon low end and rare to see. In most places, it's more towards the $4.49 - $4.59 a gallon range. It isn't cheap. And as we both mentioned, with their sh*t program, I fail to see how one could possibly buy $57 in gas and earn literally close to 1200 points from them. Thank you for your responses.

Also, the gas purchase was only $12.00 less than this one basically (45ish). So how could you get around $12.00 more in GAS a SECOND time... yet get over 1000 MORE points when you earn barely over 100 for $45 in gas? It doesn't add up to be 2 gas purchases at all. Right?

Now it is a possibility that if they sell a bottle of liquor that they have a special going on that you get a thousand points if you buy a certain product

It's never happening at any gas station, there is very little markup on fuel at a gas station. They're hoping that you come in and buy products they are selling inside. That's where they make their money

I drive a semi for a living, right now I'm getting $0.05 a gallon in perks, I just got 120 gallons and they gave me six bucks

Well here's the thing, I buy about 2,000 gallons worth of fuel a month. Every time I buy 75 gallons or more they give me a half a cent. I start off at $0.01 per gallon and through the remainder of the month I slowly build up to $0.05 a gallon

I don't know =/ One was almost definitely "normal" aka gas... but this one for almost 57 is scary.

It could have been knick knack or food or lotto purchases inside the gas station, such as a brand name lunchables set or a 6 for the price of 4 Gatorade purchase.
