Are you loyal to any brands?

Yes, but it's more about the business than the brand. A headphone company, that I first became aware of while trying to find ones that fit over my giant head, has the best damn warranty program I've ever encountered: if you bought your headphones after 1988, and something goes wrong with them, you just ship them back with payment for return shipping and they'll mail you another pair. Free. The company's located in Milwaukee- about an hour and a half from where I was living. But one year, when I was going to the Wisconsin state fair (also in- well, technically just outside of) Milwaukee, I figured I could save on half the shipping costs and asked if I could just drop them off on the way. And I found out that if you give them 24 hours' notice, you can just go in, drop the old ones off, and they'll have another pair WAITING for you.
It's an amazing program, and I've gone back to them MANY times, since it's a company that stands behind its products.
Craftsman was famous for that. If you found a rusted tool in the ocean and the Craftsman name was still legible through the rust, they would replace it.
I tend to be loyal to brands, but I can switch if there's something better. We were loyal to Subaru for a long time, but Toyota seemed to have a better deal at the time, so we went with Toyota, and have been with Toyota ever since. That doesn't mean Subaru isn't still a possibility. As for Honda, I just don't feel comfortable in their seating.
Coke or Pepsi? They're really close in taste, maybe Pepsi's a little sweeter, but I just grew up with Coke since I was a little kid. I usually go with Coke, but Pepsi's alright too.
In the 70s, Levi's set the standard for men's jeans, and I always bought them, but around 2000, they seem to have gone downhill. No more rivets, fewer belt loops, the denim wore out quick, and the pockets were no longer as deep. I was sad seeing Levi's go that route, but I'll never buy Levi's again, and I usually go with Wrangler.
I think Levi’s shot themselves in the foot. Their denim pants used to be go-to workwear. But then they became fashionable too, and they raised the prices. Then other work brands became available that were more affordable by comparison. So Levi’s lost that share of the market. Rather than lowering their prices, they lowered the quality. Who can blame them? Spending less to make a product is the same as raising the price point, but their remaining consumers won’t detect the difference in quality.

I checked my grocery receipt one time and saw 90% of it was for generic products. Planers peanuts were on sale for less than the generic. Unless I see a name brand is genuinely better, I don’t waste the money. I repair my Lexus with Toyota or aftermarket parts. I know it’s a Toyota Camry with a leather interior and walnut dashboard.
If I go on a helicopter tour, I will pay more for a Jet Ranger over a Robinson helicopter. I’m cheap, but I won’t fly on a helicopter capable of cutting it’s own tail off.
Nice! I outgrew my poor upbringing and often spend to much. Never for brand names, but for quality.
My parents were children of the Great Depression. It effected them differently. My father was frugal, my mother would piss away money trying to deny she was ever poor.
I like Redwing steel toe boots. they are durable and flexible enough that I can play soccer and basketball in them.
I tried other brands when I didn't make much money, but the other brands always fell apart within 6 months to a year, whereas redwings usually last about 5 years when using them every day.
You play sports in work boots?
I’ve hiked in mine when they’re new, but that’s it outside of work. In fact, i wait to put ‘em on at the start of shift and i take them off immediately after.
Quite a bit with clothes because I want okay quality but not wanting to spend a fortune
I guess Motorola because they make decent phones for not crazy money and Glenfiddich because they make a decent dram and most places keep the 12 year old varient
Glenfiddich is a good Scotch! I didn’t even know Motorola was still making phones! I thought they went the way of the dodo when digital radio died out.
Yeah they updated the razor and make android smartphones
Motorola always made indestructible two way radios.
I try to buy Made In USA as much as possible but do not really have a brand loyalty when I am shopping for stuff. All my TVs are samsungs however mostly because the remote controls are the same,.
I try to buy US made as much as possible too. Seems like it’s getting harder every year. Short of that, i try to buy as much fair trade as possible. That’s a fair bit easier, but still tough.
To a great extent yes... if I'm happy with a product, I'll buy another from the same company.
Are you willing to provide examples?
Burger King because they are always affordable and the food always tastes good, McDonald’s prices and tastes are unpredictable with some cheap and some expensive, some tasty and some not tasty, some good products are removed and some bad products remain, I also like Tim Hortons but they are so unhealthy and crowded I consider them rarely as a place to buy food.
Dewalt and Wen are my only brands I'm loyal to.
I’m familiar with Dewalt, but the only Wen i know is haircare. Same company?
No. Its another tool company. Been around since the 50's as a consumer grade tool. Around 2010 it was rebranded as a entry level pro grade line. Best value for your dollar in bandsaws, drill presses, and many other shop tools.
I’ll look into it. thanks!
Hugo boss for watches and Volkswagen for cars
yeah , samsung is good for phone dropper like me lol
Loyal no but I will buy or rebuy quality. No brand is loyal to me or even employees
I disagree. Companies that are loyal to their customers and employees don’t usually make national brand, let alone international. But that’s mostly on us as consumers. The boycott is a grossly underused tool these days. A little solidarity goes a long way.
Nope, if you make a good product I will continue to buy your stuff. But if you make terrible stuff or promote terrible ideas I am going to bounce.
Brooks. They are my go-to work shoe.
What would it take for you to switch? My go-to for work boots was “Wolverine”. They made a good product and had a plant in Michigan near where i grew up. When the plant closed, they moved all their production overseas. I switched to Red Wings.
If quality declines or I found a better option. I've heard of a few others that might be good, but so far this still is the best for me
