Almost once a year. My state does not accept electronic payments for car registration. I can write a check and mail it in, or pay in person with cash or check. I assume the reason they won't accept electronic payments is because they want a physical signature for the registration.
I took a banking class back in the mid 80s. Part of the class was about how checks cleared. For local checks, every morning all the local banks would get together in a room with a pile of checks from the previous day. All the banks would owe each other money, but most would cancel each other out. After everything was added up, the banks would pay whatever the balance was. They did this every morning.
For out of town checks, it went through the Federal Reserve system, which was a main reason it was created in the first place. Before the Federal Reserve, there were hundreds of banks, each with it's own "IOU". When merchants traveled from one state to another, the banks in other states had no clue if the IOU issued by an unknown bank was worth anything. Either the merchant carried large amounts of gold, or they carried a paper promissory note, which may or may not be worth anything. So the Federal Reserve standardized it, with a common promissory note that was recognized in every state. They were called Federal Reserve Notes, which today we call cash. So cash is basically a type of check, that is universally recognized and accepted.

I'd like writing checks and being able to function and balance my money. I have a record or my money goes and how much I've spent. I have used my credit card to purchase items online, gas and groceries. When I use it the credit card I keep tabs of how much I spent on an little notebook. Thus I can go into my account and pay my credit card off immediately before I receive the monthly statement. Thus avoiding interest charges. This gives me checks and balances for my balance of things that I spend.
It’s been years. I don’t think I’m fond of writing them, as opposed to giving via other methods. Also- I almost never have much to give!
what? I’m gonna sign a check of 1.99?

I wrote a check for my health insurance that is due every month. They have an option to do it online through your checking account as well. Honestly prefer checks as I had an online payment for Dell and it didn't go through. Which is weird as I had enough money to cover the payment and since January it has always gone through for $100 payment. In college I was took Accounting and was able to learn about checks and balances and how to balance a checkbook which was useful as none taught me in my 20's.

My clients take cash everything else happens via card transactions
Cashed plenty from my refinery, the auction house, a jeweller once, various little contest prizes and random sales like conventional scrap, books and vintage stuffAs for me I like to keep my books in order with paper trails & receipts & the last time I wrote a paper check was a month ago. On Monday I also have to visit the bank to deposit three checks as well.
I had to write a check for a field trip for my kid yesterday. But the last check I wrote before that was for a babysitter back in November.
It has been years since I last wrote a check
I use the online e-check and that has saved me moneyI'd have to check my cheque book, but I'd have to find it first! 20 years or so? The last couple of bank accounts I opened didn't even offer the option.
About six months ago, I purchased a certified check from my bank to pay a one-time bill. Normally I don't use checks for anything anymore.

It’s been a while. Switched banks a few years ago and they wanted like $2 per check and several weeks to print them. Said fuck it after that
Years I don't think I've actually written more than one and that was a novelty when I first got a bank account
It has been years since I actually wrote out a check.
I still write checks for my businesses sometimes.
Checks or cheques in the UK are no longer valid.
Sometimes you have no choice but to write a check. I go a long way to avoid it.
