When was the last time you wrote out a check?

Last week! I would say at least twice a month usually.

I still keep them for emergencies, or when I need to write them for certain circumstances. For example, I write a check out to my dad so he can to go to bank for me while I'm at work (By the time I get off work, they are closed and I do not like or trust using ATMs). So he will go to the bank on my behalf to get money out so I can have cash on hand.

I last wrote a cheque in 2004, PAYABLE IN THE SUM OF $104,800, to my ex wife, which represented 80% of my superannuation I'd saved since starting work eight years before I ever met her. In addition the justice gifted her the decent car, the right to live in the marital abode and 39%of my salary up until the first child turned 18 in eight years time.

Once a year when I renew my car registration. My state does not accept any type of electronic payment. You either have to go in person or use a check to pay by mail. I don't know the reasoning behind this, but I suspect it's because they require a physical signature on the form.

I had a checkbook when I was ion college. None of the storekeepers would take a check from and out of state student so I ended up having to go to the bank and get cash. I never bothered with a checkbook after that. It was over 30 years ago. Now i get a moneyorder from the bank when I need a check.

Yesterday. I prefer to pay some of my monthly bills by check rather than give them permission to withdraw money out of my account automatically. I don't like paying monthly bills on-line with a credit card, either.

I do have automatic withdrawal for some my bills, though.

According to my records the last time I wrote a check was on 20th of October of the current year. When it comes to anything financial like to keep a paper trail.

Only when I'm forced to. The banks in the UK are trying their best to kill of this antiquated form in favour of electronic forms which is a step forward to my mind.
