I need help with clothes and clothes sizes for a petite teen. What should I buy for my niece?

I am planning to buy her clothes but I have no idea what to buy or what size I should buy. My 14-year-old niece is about 5'3" and very thin. She wears a size 4 to 6. She can find tops that fit her easily, but it is difficult to find trousers that fit her.

It depends on her style. If she wears jeans a lot, then that’s really hard to buy for someone without knowing their exact size. But pants like sweatpants, leggings, they’re easier to buy when you don’t know her size. If she’s a size 4 to 6 in tops, and you say she’s thin, she’d be a size small in pants (depending on what sizing is like where you live). Where I live, a size small is a size 8 to 10. Medium is 10 to 12.

But for a 14 year old, I think a gift card to her favorite store where she can pick out her own clothes would be great.

I’d get her a gift card to her favorite clothing store and let her get them. I say this because it’s a win win. If you get her clothes - possibility she won’t like them or wrong size or brand or style. She’s unhappy and you’re unhappy that she’s unhappy. Get her gift card and she can get what she wants and no worry of disappointing her or her hurting your feelings. 👍🙂
