Amazon has a service where you give them access to your garage so they can put packages in there so the porch pirates cannot get them. What will keep the Amazon guy from breaking into your house and rip you off? What about other people that can get the code?
For me personally, that's a "no". But, if that's your only option to keep your packages safe until you arrive home then I understand.
I know of a coupl of instances where contractors, etc... who were working on houses came back in the middle of the night to the very same neighborhood to steal dirt bikes, boats, etc...
You can't ever be too careful. I'd figure something else out, or I'd just leave the garage unlocked... which sounds like something you don't want to do. I would not give your Amazon driver your garage door code if you have valuable stuff in your garage your worried about getting stolen.

No I would not. I have to weatherproof bin by my garage that is bolted to a 4 " thick cement pad. It has 2 keypad deadbolt locks on it. All the delivery people have the code. All my deliveries go in that bin and it gets locked. They don't need access to my garage.

I would assume that you’d set a separate garage-door code for amazon deliveries, and a streaming camera in the garage (like a Ring camera) so if anything were to co missing you could show the police that the code you gave amazon was the code that was used to enter the garage, and your camera would show who it was? I mean That’s what I would do if I wanted to give them access to my garage to prevent my packages from going missing. I’m lucky here at Lee’s apartment, that All amazon deliveries go to the front office, and we pick them up there.
Hope this helps,

@DrPepper12 Thanks sweetie 😊
I don't believe that we can trust anyone anymore. No more one!!
Why take the chance and then something bsd happens and it's your own darn fault for giving him the code or whatever.
At the United States Post Office if you get a package to your P. O. box, they leave you a key so you can open the bin and get your package.
The trouble is, you can't tell a big company like Amazon or Walmart to ship your items via the post office. At least I don't think so 🤷🏼♀️01 Reply

I don't have a garage but if I did, NO. Too much of a security risk.
They can leave the package on my "secure" front porch. With my wife and I both retired, there's almost always someone home to quickly bring the package inside.
30 Reply I agree that it's a stupid idea today, but I can imagine in the future architects will design with Amazon delivery in mind. Maybe houses will have a little sub garage for deliveries, or maybe there will be giant post boxes or something.
As for the present, there are strategies you could implement to mitigate the concerns you point out. The garage could be really small, with nothing of real value in it. Security cams.
Everything in life is a trade off. It's up to the individual to decide which is the bigger risk, porch pirates or elaborate Amazon inside man break ins.
I dunno about you, but if I was a burglar, the least likely time I would want to do is when there is a clear record of when I had access.

the first part didn't concern me... there's cameras for that, and whatever they steal, Amazon would be able to replace it in no time
however, those codes are a concern... these companies do lose that data all the time, and I would definitely don't want those to be stolen as well, lol10 Reply - 28 d
Yes Amazon has had an issue lately. They used to drop products on my porch but now they ring my door bell when they drop off a product. I am assuming this is due to packages being stolen cause in the past they would leave the product out on my door step and sometimes it would sit for hours.

No way… nine are ok but in other areas they do the job just so can scout houses to rip off.

Yes we do this to keep packages out of the weather and if someone wants to break in to the house it is pretty damn easy to do without any garage code.

I have all of my deliveries sent to my office, M-F, 9-5. Nothing gets stolen, nothing is left out in the weather.

I have cameras thoughout my dwelling so I can talk to my cat when I am away. There is no direct entry to my house from my garage.

I have a hard time believing Amazon would open themselves up to that sleugh of potential lawsuits. Man the package theft has to be getting pretty bad for them to consider this.
10 Reply I don't know they could be way for them to break into your house. Maybe if I had a detached garage.
