I feel really weird when a guy buys me something. Do you think this is weird?

My friend's boyfriend recently bought her a very expensive gift- a necklace that cost several hundred dollars. We were talking about guys buying gifts for girlfriends and stuff, and I mentioned my opinion. Basically, I feel really weird when a guy buys me something- especially something expensive. I believe a relationship should be equal, so if a guy bought me something for $100 for example, I feel like I should also buy him something around equal value. When going out, if one person pays the first time, the other person should pay the next time they go out. my friend thought this was really weird. Is there any other girls like me who would prefer their boyfriend not buy them presents especially expensive ones? Guys, do you think this is weird? Is it a turnoff?

Its a turn off for me because I expect myself to be incharge of the girl whom I like .

I always believe a guy needs to pay for a girl . All the girl's earnings should be spend on herself or should be saved , whereas a guy needs to pay for everything

Thats the reason , I don't get into relationships . I want to earn enough to be able to do that .

I used to feel like that too. Now I think it is sweet. I don't expect it from guys but it is sweet when they do it. I found that guys can sense that I felt awkward recieving nice gifts and they got insulted so I learned to get over it so that they wouldn't feel bad for doing something nice.
