If people say I'm cute and pretty why don't I have a boyfriend?

Hey, I'm 16 and never had a boyfriend. Everyone says I'm so cute pretty and the nicest person and I'm shy, but if so why don't I have boyfriend cause I see my friends who do and there relationships are so cute I just want to have someone care about me like that . what is wrong ?

not every guy at 16 is looking for a relationship

and most likely (with your friends) their boyfriend was a friend before, or someone they met through a club or sport or something (it wasn't just their looks that got them a boyfriend).

Really...don't stress about it. You're internalizing a lack of a boyfriend as meaning something is wrong with you and that's not the case. Its just how life is playing out for you right now. Thinking back to when I was 16 and my friends being that age with boyfriends and stuff...out of everyone I know...only one couple that was dating back then is still dating (we're all 19-20 now). ONE couple. all the rest of them had crazy drama eventually or the relationship just wasn't working out. Sometimes at that age, a boyfriend is more trouble than its worth...and don't be deceived by what you see...the couples may look all cute & loving but you don't see the whole relationship. Every relationship has their own struggles. Not being cynical or anything...relationships can be great but they're also not all puppies & rainbows, you know?

You are still young.There is nothing wrong of being single at this age.Maybe you look unapproachable to guys? Or you happen to be too cute to them? They might think you are taken or something.I am 23 and never have a boyfriend too but I choose to stay single due to some reasons.

Most 16 year olds don't have girlfriends and boyfriends. A lot of 16 year old boys are only just beginning to give a sh*t about girls even.

Also depends on the meaning of cute. I'm a high school teacher and when a 16 year old girl is called cute it usually means she's one of those girls who looks like she's about 12 years old. Cute in the little puppy dog sort of way, not in the attractive way. And of course going out with somebody who seems to be 12...yeah. I wouldn't be comfortable with a guy who would do that! To me this is what cute more often means.

I feel it comes with the shyness, cause I've never had a girlfriend and I'm 18, same with the looks and personality. But my problem is that I've never made an effort or asked anyone out before, I sort of wait for people, which is a big mistake. So if your like me and never asked anyone out before, there's your answer

Well if everyone tells you your cute and attractive, you really have a good chance of him accepting u. But if he says no, that's just the way it is. But the answer is always going to be no if you never try and ask in the first place.

Well depending on how that person says it to you tells a lot. Some like to be funny about it by just being straightforward, others say it in kind of a shy nervous way, but the fact that they say it really means they think your attractive. No one says that if they don't mean it. So overall they most likely mean it, but if you feel unsure for some reason just try to read their body language and imagine if it was you telling someone your cute, how sincere would you be?

You're one of the stooges of the powers that be... of fate. I'm 21 and never had a girlfriend despite being Mr. Nice Guy and being in shape, physically fit, well groomed, fashionable, sociable. There's no logical reason for it other than that we are stooges. You just gotta' wait until the powers that be give you a break... I'm sure you'll get a break before you'r my age to be honest.

Basically it's my way of saying that the powers that be (as I call it), or fate or the rules of the universe or whatever is picking on me/you/us. It's like we're just a slapstick prop to be trodden on and left lonely again and again. Yeah sure maybe I will have a girlfriend one day but since I was 14 I've been thinking "I'll have a girlfriend soon". Okay technically I did I suppose, since I went on a couple dates with this girl from school when I was 14.

The only time I ever was home alone with a girl was when I was 14 and it was my first crush of adolescent age lol! You'd think things would get better from there but for some reason things went downhill from there.

You're still fairly young. It's not weird to be 16 and never been in a realtionship. It's actually fairly normal. I didn't have my first real girlfriend until I was 17.

Don't worry I have the same issue but I'm 27 I think it's more of me being to myself, I'm going to try and do more stuff at the end of the year but it's hard trying to be more outgoing when you are not used to.
