Sitting still,
middle of an unmade bed.
Lights off,
single candle flickers

The big one, lies on the floor.
Snoring softly,
paws twitching.
Running through her dreamscape

The little one,
curled around my knee.
Slowly and softly,
licks my toe

I can faintly hear
the play by play.
Upstairs neighbours,
watching hockey

Then there is the clinking.
Freezing rain,
coating my little window.
