Gothic Architecture flourished during the high and late medieval period. It evolved from Romanesque architecture. Characteristics include the pointed arch, rubbed vault, and the flying buttress (this is a lateral support system) Its most known for cathedrals, abbeys, and churches throughout Europe. It is also seen in less prominent ways like dorm rooms, town halls, houses, palaces, and guild halls.
